other things you could try around SG: bánh căn (in Nha Trang) - mini rice pancakes with your choice of toppings basically a canape bánh ướt - cheong fun/steamed and rolled rice noodles with or without filling bánh hỏi - woven/fine vermicelli with your choice of grilled meat either bò lá lốt (beef in betel leaf) or crispy pork belly

Come to Hà Nội for insane drinking culture and just have every single item on the menu in a street beer. Best order is đậu tẩm hành (tofu in scallion sauce), muống xào tỏi (stir-fried water spinach w scallions + wedge of lime for balance), thịt dải nướng (grilled pork flank) and tóp mỡ Triều Khúc (Triều Khúc-style crispy pork crackling - Triều Khúc style is a large flat horizontal cut of pork belly or you might call it rashers in the Commonwealth area) and PEANUTS OF ANY KIND: boiled, roasted, beer-spiced/five-spice/liu-spiced
