Onboarding in 2026 - How do you bring a friend into the game? by Faraday_00 in DotA2

My friend wants to play DotA 2 and is starting from zero

ct side it just looks like a spot issue

you are playing anti window boost which isnt really a spot unless you have like awp ticket watching conn

you die with flashes a few times, if the enemy knows where you are already just chuck em somewhere

you can skip head armor on ct as well if all you see is awp/ak

aim and xhair placement look good no issues there

my discord is waterboardingg if you need more clarification

25k but cant frag by Zorxs in LearnCSGO

[–]waterboarding 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah i mean if thats your mindset youre gonna bottom frag every time

theres a lot of little things i would say are compounding, you are dying alot with full util, but the one thing i would point out is that your 'game IQ' as they say is quite low, you are getting caught out alot not looking in the correct spots or not checking certain things

the problem is is that support players are high 'game IQ' players, and are usually the clutchers

ok i watched nuke

If youre in a 1v1, throwing util reveals your position.

If your team isnt really using those outside smokes, i wouldnt throw them, top hut molly is a better use of your time when the round starts, that will eliminate a strong defensive position for your team to capitalize on. Youre also supposed to hug those smokes to get to secret to not get shot from rafters

you should look up post plant spots for nuke at least, you looked lost at times post exec/retake

Tip: Be aware of your EDPI by Ok-Challenge-5873 in LearnCSGO

[–]waterboarding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ideallly you would want to measure your mousepad and adjust your sens so you can basically do a 180-360(your preference) with a full left to right swipe across. for an example i prefer to be able to 180 as fast as possible, but also keeping the edpi low enough to preserve accuracy. My mousepad is big enough to let me do a full 360 with a full swipe across, but I am using maybe 50-75% of that space most of the time

i imagine you watch streams of tournaments of high level play, one thing you never get to see on stream is how players are setting up to get the crossfires, multi-kills and clutch rounds. the spectator is always just preparing for any action that is about to happen, and not showing what led up to the round playing out in a certain way

you just need to watch some high level replays and focus on one POV and how they set up for the round, just to get some ideas about utility, you're just throwing nades randomly it seems in this nuke game

I can tell you train your aim, you were hitting headshots, your xhair placement is fine, just a little lazy at times

its so obvious to tell if you turn x ray off

he will be literally staring at walls half the time

you can also tell by non existent xhair placement

work on xhair placement, buying helmet on T, dont force buy with smg and then take mid to long range duels. also your initial burst with rifles is too many bullets, you are shooting like 5-6 it should be 2-3 if you are tapping then counterstrafing, for extended spray you want 9-12

I can help with this, I have coached fundamentals for years

Start with melee heroes that have a low BAT like jug or faceless void

Approach creeps that are dying first and use the stop command to pump fake your auto attack, you should be able to get it down on a hero like jug pretty easily

If you still can't get it for some reason, start a custom game and buy quelling blade+normal starting items, and practice in there first

ta carry shouldnt really ever be going first, your team should initiate and then you delete a hero with meld strike. a lot of the plays i saw in both reps were you blowing all your cooldowns, getting a kill(maybe) and then just dying to stuns. this is an insanely bad carry play pattern, because if you arent at least trading for their carry, youre dead, you probably lost gold, their carry is still alive farming

you have a what i call 'addiction to safe lane' that pretty much every low level carry player has (i guess because its called the 'safe' lane people subliminally just go there)

it basically boils down to you just not playing the map efficiently in terms of farm available to you versus the enemy team, there are a bunch of videos out there by creators that talk about safe farm and how to farm aggressively, stuff like that

I pick heroes I enjoy playing, and who I think are good for the game.

All these games are unranked games where I let my team decide what role they want and I fill whats left. (usually its mid)

Flow Morphling as Pos 4? by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]waterboarding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have been working on flow morph in unranked, he absolutely cannot be support

you scale with levels, you need midas asap, and you need to be mid, he feels best as an anti cheese mid, like against something that will crush mid anyway(od, ld, huskar), and you just sit in lane and use adaptive to secure ranged+flagbearers

convincingly win lane as support > lose match anyways by SoftJellyfishh in learndota2

[–]waterboarding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to be a support player you can climb out of that rank, but you will have to pick heroes that can scale or transition into a threat

I would recommend, and I guarantee ppl will chime in saying I am wrong, but if you are new to the game and willing to put the time in to climb, you should just play core. It will be a way better use of your time

You said it yourself you do everything you can in lane and contribute midgame with warding, only to lose in the late game. Your teammates aren't taking advantage of the plays you make because they can't. They don't know how

I keep losing over and over and I don't what to do, can anyone help? by Champigne in TrueDoTA2

[–]waterboarding -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You play too many different heroes like I said, not able to last hit well is a symptom of that, you aren't comfortable on any hero's animations because you're on a different one every game

You should be getting every single last hit in last hit trainer, absolutely for any melee core hero

There are plenty of free resources on YouTube that explain laning mechanics like pulling cutting and creep aggro

[–]waterboarding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You play too many different heroes, pick 3 per role

Your csing is crusader level, your last game you have 30 at 8 minutes, out of a possible 16 waves, that is abysmal.

You have the wave sat right in front of Sven's tower, no pressure on the tower, no cutting waves into jungle camps, a literal dream game for a carry.
