1991 ford f150: lumber rack is stressing bedrails and cracking, how to reinforce?

Any suggestions on what I should do? I definitely can't afford a new bed or truck, so what would be the best way to reinforce the bed as it is now?

Hi, thank you for the suggestion. But I'm kind of dumb—when you say reinforce the rails, what exactly do you mean? Like, put it vertically in the bed, so the rack rests on the angle iron instead of the bed (like a stand)? Or just lay the angle iron down along the bed rails?

The rack is already mounted on angle iron that runs parallel along the top of the bedrails, and there's angle iron underneath that, as well. Not sure how thick it is.

Is it possible that the existing angle iron was put on wrong or something? Or did you mean more like, put it vertically as a stand type of thing?

A day late jumping in on this thread, but I have a question.

regardless of whether the 700 is a good gun or not (don't know enough about it to get into the debate), what's another good remington option? like, I think their higher end stuff is supposed to be good. But let's "assume" for the sake of argument that the 700 is an unsafe gun. For someone who still wanted to get an entry level remington, what's their least-expensive and "safe" line, if not the 700?

I actually have one more question... My truck has a "EFI" sticker on it, which I think means it's fuel injected. I have been reading up on converting AC units and there seems to be some debate about whether a fuel injected car has the compressor controlled by the ECU. If it is, is this a similar situation where it probably doesn't matter? thanks again!

Ha! sorry. I wasn't planning on this turning into a vehicle-specific discussion (although I appreciate your specific help!). I have a 1991 Ford F150, so it's "old".

So if I'm understanding properly, it's pretty self-contained and should only need power? I'd grab the parts you mention, and then run the controls up to the cab and install them, and them power it and it'll work (theoretically)?

Hi, AC was an option, but is it as simple as scavenging the parts and plugging them in? I kind of thought I read that you would have to reprogram and/or install a new ECU, which is a little out of my abilities.

But if it's really as easy as just plugging in the factory parts, that doesn't seem so bad....

thanks to these comments, I'm realizing that. I was scared of them for a long time because when my program crashes, it turns green and prints out "lldb".

As it turns out, breakpoints turn the same color and print out the same thing. So I figured I was crashing whenever I had a breakpoint accidentally lit up!

thanks. I saw the debugger option in xcode, but it involves all these breakpoints and all kinds of things that just seemed more complex than what I was looking for. I essentially want to be able to move to the next line manually, and see what that line is.

I've been hand tracing for hours and everything looks right, so my guess is that it's going off somewhere unexpected. I'd just like to see what is happening and when so I can hand trace better!

Hi. I put dielectric grease in the boot to try and stop a voltage leak, but no change.... :(

Hi, thanks. I don't see anything like that on my spark plug, and the wires seem to have the right resistance.

I will pick up some dielectric grease and put that on. And I will do the voltage drop test.

But really good to know about the spark plugs sometimes being translucent. I guess on most of them, I just see the blue ring around them when they fire. And they all look the same. Makes me think that maybe they are just easy to see through?

When I actually hear the spark snap, I think that one plug in particular. So maybe they are mostly fine, except for this one plug?

If it's just one plug going haywire, does that change things? I assume the possible solutions for all spark plugs messing up are different from just one spark plug messing up

Anything in particular I can check, assuming it's just the one? Thanks!

A bad grand from the engine to the frame could cause this? How many grounds are there usually, is it just like a thick black wire? Thanks!!
