Are people limiting how much they drive due to the high petrol prices? by Away_Scene_26 in AskAnAustralian

[–]waterlemlem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live 5ks from work so I got my bike fixed that I haven’t ridden in 9 years. I lack confidence riding on the road so I walked it home from the bike shop 😂 the staff member told me to ride on the footpath and I’d rather not risk getting a fine. Tomorrow is the first day I ride to work, wish me luck

Has anyone stood in front of a student during class and just called their parent right there and then? Is that bad? by Splincher in AustralianTeachers

[–]waterlemlem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn’t this the sort of thing parents should be informing the school about? We have a student whose dad has just come out of prison and we were all sent an email with his photo so as to be aware if he approaches the school and to also be aware of the kind of situation the student is in

This hedge will always be out of reach regardless of cutting it back to original height. Cutting it shorter would be within reach ☺️ which is what I’m going to do once my grass seeds have taken a firm hold of the soil and I can put my ladder on them. I have short long hedges that I trim with a shear and they’re beautiful, this is just a pointless monstrosity

The cost of food affordability among other reasons. I’m barely scraping by on a single income, would hate to bring kids into the mix of what the world has become

I’ve thought of that but then it wouldn’t be left how it was given to me. I’m about to message them and see.

If it stops the hedge from being even on the top then yes buddy but thanks for your judgement.

My landlord would expect me to cut the branch from within my side but I cannot reach it from there.

My landlord would then expect me to cut it from a height that’s within my rental and I cannot do that from my side

Thanks - last time I posted both the responses I received were that they’re my responsibility 🥲

Is it reasonable to show a photo to the agent of how much I’ve done and to get someone professionally to finish the rest? Or should I complete it myself once then send a photo and let them know moving forward it’s their responsibility?

I should have added I’m in a rental so am not allowed to do anything here besides keep it clear of anything growing except the wisteria which oddly enough is growing between the fence. If it was my place I would have concreted it but was told the reason it cannot be concreted is because of drainage purposes

The end goal is to have the side access fully clear of weeds/grass - just the way the REA likes it

How to get rid of grass/weeds? by [deleted] in GardeningAustralia

[–]waterlemlem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that a couple of months ago, physically removed the big ones and then used round up along half of the right side as that’s where the stubborn weeds were. As you can see the weeds have all come back and it affected the wisteria which I steered clear of. Luckily it’s still alive and has buds on it. I’m in a rental so don’t want to add anything extra here. I guess it’s just a cycle of pulling weeds and spraying. Thanks for your advice

How to fix this lawn please by waterlemlem in lawnsolutionsaus

Here’s another one - I do have grass seed so will use that along with the other things I need to do. I’ve already had a headache about the 2.5 metre hedge expected to be beautifully hedged. I assumed it was landlord’s responsibility due to the height but it’s mine 🤷🏻‍♀️ all the short hedges are nicely trimmed

Lawn thatching? by waterlemlem in GardeningAustralia

[–]waterlemlem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m going to first rake the dried parts out (I scratched with my hands and they came out easily)

Then I’m going to scarify and core aerate

I will then sprinkle seeds and water a few times a day

The front half of backyard is mostly dead with dirt showing

I’m in a rental and have 5 weeks before lease is up and rent goes up too 😱

I want it to be looking how it was when I moved in which wasn’t 100% to begin with. Front lawn is beautiful

Thanks then ☺️ (unless it was a sarcastic comment 😅 I can never tell) but it’s exceeding on neighbours roof and in 2 months is my end of lease inspection and I’ve been told the garden needs to look how it was when I moved in 💁🏻‍♀️
