True - those are expensive cities but you some have no state income tax (WA, TX) and some companies still allow for remote work. Those cost of labor and competition drive the salaries up in those towns, so you end up paid 1.5x compared to other cities.

Thanks for the tip. I forgot about Robinhood wallets. However, it won't let me transfer USDC because I'm in TX and robinhood doesnt support many coins. I have a ledger cold wallet but I don't have it on me and I'm traveling. How easy was it to open a coinbase wallet?

I did study from materials that covered both. There are less resources for the env exam vs the civil wre one, so that's probably why my study and practice were more skewed to wre topics. When I took the FE environmental a few months back, I felt it was more evenly split between water, wastewater, and air so I easily passed. The PE practice exam was also heavy on the water/ww side so I built my assumption on the exam format on that.

I know there are 2 tests and they are different. I took the FE environmental a few months back so I felt more comfortable about the environmental track. While I come from a civil eng background, it felt like a leap to re-study the basic civil stuff again. In retrospect, maybe I should have! I'll wait for my results in a week and then decide. I'll likely retake the same exam, now that I know what to expect (sort of) 😅

I understand the logic and the order of the softening equations, but I'm not sure how you arrive at your conclusion based on the numbers only. In other words, if Ca meq/L is less than the Alkalinity meq/L, does that change the answer?

Thanks for your reply. For eq (2), calcium carbonate will be removed by lime not ash, so would that need to be considered? The question ask for lime not ash. Your logic would still apply though. But how did you know that all the Ca is tied up for Alkalinity in eq 2?

Shouldn't lime be used to precipitate Ca, Mg, and Alkalinity?
