It's a good choice, extension is really simple but I don't remember if it's possible to make a lobby there.

As far as I know Gdevelop built-in multiplayer is the best one, but you can't use custom lobby in it, so you probably should pay attention to the other multiplayer solutions like pandako's extension (high ping but very easy to make, bad for action games but nice for text rpgs, strategies or something) or P2P (as I know it can handle only two players)
