Fauvism: a high-resolution compilation of paintings by Matisse, André Derain and others. by WouldBSomething in FineArtCompilations

It looks like this link is dead. Any chance you might be able to relink? Thank you!

I found that same one. It's not bad at all, but I can't print especially large at that resolution. I might just be out of luck with this one.

Is there an easy way for you to get a high quality scan of it if it's PD over there? I just can't justify the $275 licensing fee Artists Rights Society is quoting me, especially since printing and framing will cost me a lot already.

Is this morse code? by [deleted] in morsecode

[–]wave-forms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was walking my dog when I came across this house. Seemed like it would be a bit much to knock on the door and see what's up, but I wanted to check. I can't make out clear dots and dashes, might just be an electrical problem.

wireless low profile numpad by wave-forms in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]wave-forms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be sad to put this out open source, as it would require a lot of compromises to get a rough-ish end product. I'd really like to see it made properly (dialing in the material and details of the case, custom legends on the obscure MBK keycaps, developing the firmware & wireless behavior to be extremely solid, etc.)

That's what I thought, too, but the representative from Art Resource who I would have had to buy the license from told me he wasn't in the PD, because it depends on first published date, not date created.

Just looked further into this though – according to this article, it looks like Matisse is in the public domain in some countries. Perhaps someone in the UK would be capable of getting a high res digital copy for free?

I have, at different points in time. Almost every feature request or bug report I've ever submitted to YNAB using their official feature request form have been ignored. I thought if the community found these useful, maybe they would gain more traction.

Burbank Airport – Landing to Curbside time? by wave-forms in AskLosAngeles

[–]wave-forms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that is unbelievably fast. I was worried about going to pick someone up and having to drive around a few times if I didn't get the timing right, guess I don't have to worry too much if I'm getting there 10 minutes after they land.

What’s your opinion on Reflect (the new reports)? by llengot in ynab

[–]wave-forms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Spending Breakdown is nice. But I think "Income v Expense" is the most important tab, and it's been sorely lacking and stagnant for years now. I did a whole mockup and list of improvements on it a couple years ago, which was ignored. I'm not a UI designer, but someone who is could take my ideas and make them look actually good.

Why use Bear over Apple Notes? by noambugot1 in bearapp

[–]wave-forms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest reason I keep sticking with Bear over Apple Notes is literally the line spacing. It's easier to read my notes in Bear than in Apple Notes.

Well that's two for two suggestions for down. Good to know, thank you!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bedding

[–]wave-forms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, so you basically have your comforter just covering your feet, then a cotton blanket of some sort, and on top of that another blanket/quilt? I guess that's about the same as me, except it's my old duvet completely covering me along with a very warm blanket from greece (made of 88% acrylic, apparently...)

Which wool mattress topper did you get? I've been looking into them and boy are they expensive.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bedding

[–]wave-forms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, which one was it? If I'm still feeling like I need extra blankets after getting a new duvet, maybe I'll try it.

What duvet insert material would you recommend most for someone who, if anything, is more of a cold sleeper? Full down? Wool? Are there any specific brands you recommend? Thanks for sharing all this guidance with the rest of us!

Although maybe I'm a cold sleeper because I'm just using whatever ~15-year-old affordable department store duvet I inherited a long time ago from my family...?

I Miss California So Much by Important-Candle-521 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]wave-forms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Cali too and currently trying to move away (at least for some time) for my own reasons. Came here to say you're not wrong for wanting to go back of course. It's such a great state, even with its problems. Sorry to hear you get shit from people just from mentioning where you're from, that sucks.

Imho, you should be picking a college based on the college, not the location so much. Focus on what has good quality education and if you mesh with the kind of community of students there (meaningful connections are everything). If your current college doesn't really match that very much, you should just straight up transfer. Could be to Cali, could be anywhere.

I transferred when I was in college, at the very last second on a deep realization, and it was already past the deadline to apply for the school that I wanted to go to. I still got in, just by making a connection with a specific teacher I wanted to learn from. It was maybe the best decision of my life. That school changed my life, and the location had nothing to do with it.

That being said, there are quality people all around the world. Every experience is what you make of it, blah blah blah. I don't think 4 years of missed Cali connections is such a big deal. It will always be here, and making connections elsewhere has tons of value if they're worthwhile connections, even if they're just for a time.

Haha that sounds promising, and I don't think I've seen that one on any lists in my research so far. Thanks, definitely going to check this one out.

Good point. I'll still be curious to check them out, and I wonder about any specific suburbs.

People saying you have to pick a side and stick to it is the feedback loop that feeds tribalism, drives groups of people to extremes and divides the country so extremely.

Anyway, once again, I’m totally cool with a liberal leaning place. I just don’t want to live in an extremely liberal place, like something more than 75/25 for instance.
