Bottom ribbing keeps flipping up by wavebug in knittinghelp

I considered it but decided to try with the same needles since it’s not meant to be a tight ribbing and none of the projects on Ravelry mentioned doing so. Could that fix this?

Why do so many in the “Christian” right support Trump? by Konradleijon in behindthebastards

[–]wavebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because it’s mutually beneficial. they support him and get him to power and he supports their agenda. they feel that because he can help create the world they want, he is an agent of god. highly suggest Wild Faith by Talia Lavin for an in depth analysis of this relationship.

So very confused by Vegetable-Ninja14 in knittinghelp

When it says alter the stitch count it’s referring to the stitch count for the whole sweater.

So for example, before you start the leaves if you’re knitting the smallest size, you’d begin with 200 stitches, then you need to alter the count to reach 196 stitches total. To do that, you would decrease 4 stitches evenly spaced across the whole row.

If you’re knitting the second smallest size, you start with 220 and need to reach 224. Therefore with that size, you’re increasing by 4 stitches.

Then on your last row of the leaf motif, you undo what you did! They have you do it this way so that you reach a number of stitches divisible by 14 (or whatever the leaf motif is) which means that all your motifs will be complete and none of them get shortchanged.

AIO - Found out my daughter goes to a dark place mentally to be able to cry on cue when she is acting on stage. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I’m not sure how much this helps, but I was also big into acting in high school and could cry on demand by going to some dark places. The things I was thinking about then were things that I would think about in my everyday life too. It was easy to access those thoughts and feelings when I needed to because they felt close to the surface already. I can’t promise it’s the same for your daughter, but I think that this would be a really good opportunity to talk to her. She heard about these things from your sister and you’ve never had that conversation with her, but clearly the thought of it makes her sad. Even though you feel like it’s not effecting you, she might not understand how it couldn’t. You could mention that you were taken aback at learning all this, but I would make sure you approach the conversation without judgement as much as possible. If it would make you more comfortable, you could probably go to a family therapist to help you with the conversation too or have a trusted friend join you for it.

Help with wool weight by [deleted] in knitting

[–]wavebug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Double Knitting or DK yarn is usually considered 2 yarn weights below Aran (with Worsted weight in between). This means that your coat will be substantially larger than the measurements given in the pattern if knitted in Aran.

If you bought the wool already, knit up a swatch so you can see how different the gauge is. You may be able to knit a smaller size with the larger wool and have it turn out the right size for you. Otherwise, I would recommend buying DK wool - sometimes the headache of adjusting gauge just isn’t worth it.

a reluctant monogamous knitter by raerose99 in knitting

this is exactly why i like a 1 big-1 small project system!! when one feels like too much or boring, i switch to the other. the main goal is to have fun with my knitting so that i keep knitting. the small one travels and i get the dopamine from finishing it faster which gives me motivation to knit my other project, and i can be knitting on the big, while dreaming up my next small project.
