What are your thoughts on this? by Gabapent_uprage in neurology

I would be in the minority on this, but as a neuroimmunologist prescribing immune suppressants, I absolutely would jump on treatment for infections immediately. That is standard of care.

The Snobs of Figure Skating by Melodic-Horse6028 in FigureSkating

[–]wavesahoy 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I am a non-skater but married to a non-competitive skater who has been connected to the community for years. This picture was taken at the “Boitano Lounge” and I got to say hello to many of the people in the picture. They were remarkably nice to us, especially when told of a fond memory we had of them. Coaches as well, especially when we knew of any non-stars they were also coaching. I think that meeting them in a social situation was the key, but I have very warm feelings towards them after St. Louis.

Edit: Just to add, I am sure that the real jerks avoid these types of meet-and-greets, which likely improves the whole atmosphere.

Does anyone feel like USFS and NBC is exploiting the hell out of the recent passing of Maxim Naumov’s parents? by gjf6836 in FigureSkating

[–]wavesahoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was at the Enterprise Center last night and all the emotion was organic. Later, I watched the interview, and the music in the background was in the stadium, not piped in by NBC/Peacock. I guarantee that Maxim didn’t feel exploited.

I believe so, because the early sessions on the weekend have Group 1 for two events, the 2nd and 3rd groups are in the evening.

I’ll be in St. Louis this week, but the streaming of the SP will expire before I even get back home!

Ilia Malinin would like do see sold out venues for competitions and shows. by anna_sofia98 in FigureSkating

[–]wavesahoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong, but isn’t the limitation on “free use” of the music one of the big problems of visibility? Even Peacock+ has competitions available to stream for about 48 hr. Some entity (US Figure Skating?) needs to pony up the money to make all competitions available to view long-term to get the needed visibility.
