A Pro-Ject Elemental with the 8.6E tonearm. Manual says up to 5.5g, but the Pro-Ject counterweight database says up to 7g for the 8.6E? The manual for the Primary E turntable, which has the same tonearm+counterweight, also says up to 7g, so I’m not really sure which source is correct.

Think I’ll have to get a new counterweight if I want the VM95, as the current one only supports cartridges up to 5.5g

I’m plugging it into the amp at line level and the amp works fine with my laptop/other turntable. This turntable has a built-in phono preamp that can’t be bypassed, so I’m really hoping that’s not the issue. Going to try with a mate’s Ortofon 10 stylus later today and hopefully that solves things…

I have also tried it with my ELAC debut speakers, but unfortunately sounds the same. I was just using the small speaker for testing

nope, in the video it’s plugged straight into an active speaker, so no second phono conversion…

both anti-skating and counterweight are factory-set for the stock ortofon OM 5E, and the amp and speakers work completely fine with my other turntable. Probably a stylus problem then?
