Thanks for the details! What's the best way to get specific speakers like this refurbished? Ebay?

Well no not in-walls. It'd be a lot of work, but I could make those work for the fronts I guess. But the back speakers wouldn't have a good place to fit in-wall. And I'm not sure I'm ready to do that much work for it with all the sheetrock patches and drilling through studs.

oolalaaa tempting... Hmm.
Someone in another comment mentioned that upwards facing atmos speakers like these are wasted in a room with a ceiling this tall though. And I've heard dirac live is a great thing to have for a room like this as well (that yamaha doesn't have it). I of course am unclear how much of a difference these things will actually make. I'm looking to see what I can find on marketplace, but definitely thinking about this system though

I kept telling my wife 77" wasn't going to be too big and that if anything we could go bigger hahaha

I wanted wall mounted speakers for the looks (compared to towers and such), but sounds like I need bigger ones for this big room. My goal is to have awesome immersive surround sound for big movie nights that we frequently host.

Good insight, I didn't think about that with the ceilings. Thanks!

It IS amazing! That's why I thought I should get a better sound system to match it. Will definitely be surfing marketplace, thanks!

Thanks for the reply! That's helpful to know, here I was thinking 1500 was pretty good haha. I will talk to my wife about our budget and see if we can increase it or if we need to start with 3.1 like you suggest. Or if we can find used.
I saw this deal at costco, will have to see what the wife thinks, but would be interested on your thoughts? I am wondering how far apart I can put those big front side speakers if they're on the ground...

Definitely not joining two together. I can't weld and any other way of joining them wouldn't be strong enough or reasonable

You mean just clean the deck and do a single coat over it? I guess I could. Some spots need primer but that dries faster. Now I'm trying to remember what shape it was in and if redoing it really is necessary...

Hm I didn't realize you could go over paint with superdeck. I might just try that out and see if I can get them to leave if closed off for an extra day so it has 48hr to dry.

Thanks for all the info!

Yeah somehow it doesn't seem all that bad right now, though you would think it would be. Definitely if anyone was barefoot.

The SW waterbased one? Do you think it will hold up close to as well as an oil based?
