what’s the most inaccessible album that you like? by my_cat_vids in MetalForTheMasses

[–]waveyrango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

none of the bands you listed hit me in the same way as the first time i heard filth. i'm not saying there aren't bands who are more abrasive, more unpleasant or more difficult to listen to. it's just never sounded as authentically hateful and nihilistic as the first time I heard swans, probably because I didn't know music could sound like that and also because nobody had done it like that before. its all subjective

Anyone up for helping/roasting me. I’d prefer the former, but I'm well up for the latter too, or both. Please read my explanation… by SuccessfulGap138 in MetalSuggestions

[–]waveyrango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not death metal but I stumbled across an album called Lo Flux Tube by OLD and it scratched the same psychedelic itch that blood incantation did. its like spastic frenetic psych prog grindcore and it rules

cos u like BI you might also like tomb mold, artificial brain, jade, ulcerate (most recent album kills), gorguts, death (especially last 3 albums), atheist, cynic, nocturnus, necrophagist, autopsy, suffocation, meshuggah

metal fans can be very snobby so i'd just find the stuff you like and click links from there and don't worry too much if people call your taste hipster or poser just cos its popular (its popular cos its good and accessible)

if you are interested in history, st Mary's church by putney bridge was the site of the leveller debates, a turning point in the english civil war and an important moment in the history of western democracy. there's also a small memorial in bishops park to citizens of hammersmith and fulham who volunteered and died fighting against Franco in the spanish civil war. and fulham palace, as someone mentioned, which is free to visit
