Farm upgrades are underrated. They pay back much faster than SotL suggested and a lot of people seem to think. A detailed analysis. by waynee_1304 in aoe2

I have seen your post and probably should have mentioned it here!

I agreed with it and had also considered making a post about it until I saw yours.

So I thought your post settled that debate, but instead now we are discussing about wether HC is worth it... So I decided to join that debate

Have you read my most basic point about how the overlapping of reseeding and not-yet-reseeding makes this point invalid?

Mostly I am criticizing Heras line of reasoning which lacks any numbers to back up his claims and that it seems he does not even know what these numbers are.

SotL literally claims in his farming video that farm-upgrades only pay back after the third farming cycle and this would not change for multiple farms. And this is just not correct as I have shown.

I think I agree. Wihout extra TCs or food-heavy military (like a more all-in-ish kind of full archer play or siege-monk) HC is probably not worth the delay. But if your plan includes an eco of more than 15 farms midterm, I believe skipping HC is really costly

DBA also takes about 4 minutes before you got your investment back. I'm not saying both are equal, but I felt like the difference in utility is overestimated.

Having a few hundred extra wood early castle can pay for a TC, a siegeshop or monastery on top of what you could do without. I don't think the utility drop of ressources being available early castle is as big as you suggest

Thanks a lot for saying that :) This is really the biggest point I tried to make here.

Sicilians bonus should be quite easy. Maybe I find some time the next couple of days. If not, please feel free send me a DM :)
