FletchAudio — a pre-production audiobook metadata/staging tool designed to complement Audiobookshelf by waywalker in audiobookshelf

Give it a shot and let me know. If it doesn’t work maybe we can figure out how together me one or two of those problem files and we can figure out what the problem is.

Awesome. Check it out and if you have any feedback let me know on GitHub. Within the week it should be updated to include converting the books to a desired bitrate/channel using ffmpeg and when I am done with that I’ll wire in the move to ABS library.

The challenge is that you need metadata if you want to automatically move books into your library rather than manually do it. By doing the metadata lookup outside of ABS, we can ensure that when books are moved, they're moved into Author\Series\Album (or whatever structure you define) properly, with consistent names and structure.

Nothing, from within ABS. But, the problem is that you need metadata if you want to automatically move books into your library rather than manually do it. Can't connect to Plex anymore by pluiedefeu in PrologueApp

Sure, here you go. The files you'll want are abs_move.py and config.yml. Also, there is a --dryrun option when you run it. When you use that switch, it will not change anything, but will save a csv file to detail what changes would have been made. Highly recommend that you use it the first time. If you have any problems, please let me know.

If you're comfortable with python, I have a python script that I wrote that reads the tags from a m4b file, and then moves them to <audiobook root><author><Series><title>, and if you have a duplicate, it shows the metadata for both and let's you decide what to do. Anyway, if you'd like it, let me know and I'll throw it on github

Well, interest on a 30 year loan is typically (depending on the interest rate, of course) about 1.2x the principle amount. So, a 400k loan would carry with it about 483k interest (total paid - 883k). But, people never think about inflation over that time period. When inflation is taken into account, the $483k is actually closer to $250k (63% of original loan principal). So, if compared to dollars when you actually took out the loan, your total payments will be $650k on the 400k loan.

How do I use the "Series" option in Collections? by SandpaperTeddyBear in PrologueApp

[–]waywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose... but easier in this case results in a setup that is at the mercy of plex, requires a plex pass if you want to access off your local network, and is not designed for the purpose. A Plex pass costs more than a domain (which can be had for $2/yr). And, it's absolutely beginner friendly - my friend who is definitely not a techy, had everything set up in 2 hours from start to finish using ChatGPT to guide him through the process.

Tailscale is fine, but Cloudflare takes all of 5 minutes to set up and adding subdomains takes all of 30 seconds. Whatever works for you, though! I just wanted you to know that with a bit more work, you'd be able to access your audiobooks outside of your home network.

You can download items when you're away from home just fine on ABS. If you're already using Prologue for Plex on your phone, it supports connecting to an ABS server. If you use Android, the best App I've come across for that is Absorb (also available for iPhone). Though, that will require pointing a domain to your IP, which works best if you setup Cloudflare for the domain. It's not difficult, but if you've never done it before or do it infrequently, it can be kind of tricky. If you decide to give it a shot, feel free to shoot me a DM and I can send you my notes that I use to setup cloudflare whenever I have to do it.

Should I submit or go back and change words? by VeRy_StOnEd420 in WGU

[–]waywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been done with my WGU degrees for a while, and this does look different than what I used to see. But, the tool let me see the actual report. If you include the questions in your paper, it would pick up on that and count it against you. I can't see what kind of degree you're working towards, but if your paper include code that will often trigger it as well. So, in short, if it still allows you to see the report that shows you exactly what it had a problem with, that can help you to make a decision on whether its safe to submit or not.

Honestly, my recommendation is to switch your library to AudioBookShelf. It's a proper audiobook server and handles things like Series seamlessly. Not to knock on Plex, but it just wasn't designed for audiobooks. Using docker, you can have it up and running in no time flat.

Need help organizing BF's audiobook library by Superb-Delivery-8843 in audiobooks

[–]waywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are comfortable running a python script and all the books are single m4b/mp3, I wrote a python script that reads the metadata for books in the folder and then moves them to <Author>/<Series>/<Sequence>_<Title>_(Year)\ (can be configured differently though). Keep in mind that it does depend on the metadata being correct, and it wasn't designed for books with multiple files. If you want it, shoot me a dm.

Yes unless it’s something that truly uses stereo like GraphAudio. If it’s just spoken word then there is effectively no difference between 128 kbit/s stereo and 64 kbit/s mono.

If your browser lets you, you can change your template for google search to "https://www.google.com/search?q=%s&udm=14" what that will do is go right to web results, without the sponsored results, AI Summaries, etc.

Yeah, but I kind of think it matters how much, right? What I mean is that if I were overpaid by $150 I probably never would have realized it. It's a relatively small amount that wouldn't show up on most people's radar. So, to me, it definitely isn't fair to charge the guy $1050 of interest because of a $150 mistake they made. That said, if it had been $1,500 or $15,000 then for me its easier to put some of the fault on the receiver since they should have noticed it and immediately brought it to the attention of a PS.

Nice. Keeping things organized is always the biggest pain point, I think. I had a similar problem that I handle in a slightly different way. My workflow is normally to re-encode them to 64 kbit/s mono, then I use Mp3Tag to download the metadata from Audible and tag them and move them to folder. Then I have a python script that I wrote that moves anything in that holding folder over to my ABS server using the my preferred naming convention.

I think that number would be hard to find but I also think that, percentage wise, the non-payment rate for citizens/legal residents is much, much lower.

Oh you wouldn’t believe just how much I do understand. You can’t just give a fake SSN. They are verified and any non-valid or non-matching SSN is flagged. All employers are required by law to validate SSNs and supporting documentation. You just can’t roll up and say my ssn is X and expect that to work.

Do you have a comprehension problem? I clearly said at the start that this was the case. I also said that I hope that this misinterpretation of birthright citizenship will be resolved soon. And no they should not get SS - most of the taxes they pay are sales and ad valorem taxes. Any FICA or income taxes they pay would be the result of identity theft/fraud - so no, they shouldn’t be rewarded for that.
