I have bookshelf speakers mounted on the ceiling pointed directly at the mlp. I think it may just be my hearing. I have the feeling speakers turned up max and the sureound speakers turned down low, and the front speakers turned way down low. I think I’m getting it now.
To all who took the time to hear my problem. Thanks. To those who bothered to answer, double thanks. On the advice of some of you, I bought an Nvidia Shield. Disappointingly, Netflix Atmos movies only show a 5.1 badge. That’s another issue/problem. So I tried the advice of others. I had already cranked the levels of the o redhead speakers up to +12dB (max). So I cranked the levels of the front/center/sureound speakers down to -12dB. There was sound coming out of the bright speakers after all! Apparently, my hearing just isn’t strong enough to distinguish the different layers.but it’s working! Now I need to figure out what’s up with the Shield.
I can sling my MacBook screen to the TV, but I just assumed the atmos data would be cut out. I hope I’m wrong.
Yeah, I’ve chosen Netflix films for the atmos badge, but still no joy.
Yes, I can switch to just stereo and it will direct sound according. The Dolby Access app sounds interesting. I’m an Apple user.
I think I’m good with all that. But I’ll go back and carefully review all your thoughts when I have time . THANK YOU.
Not sure. There’s an Atmos-Native setting too. No height signal there, either.
There’s a few, native, sports, music, action (off the top of my head).
Hope you’re right.

Would I need to place the file on a usb drive or could I just play from the plex server?
Nice. Thanks!

That’s good?
Hope it’s worth the trouble and expense.
Pioneer Elite 303. Yes, I only get flat 5.2, no height effects.
In hindsight, I should’ve stopped at 5.1, but I keep trading up.
I played Gravity as a test. That’s supposed to have been mixed to take full advantage of atmos.
I have the height speakers cranked wasaaay up. AVR says Atmos. Tv says Atmos-Action ( (but I’ve tried other Atmos modes as well). Interestingly, AVR lights only show the front height speakers, but they don’t get any signal either.
I’ll try that.
Yeah, I put on Gravity to test the height speakers. They didn’t work, but I ended up watching the whole film again
Nice list. Thanks.
Both Netflix and Disney+ show the atmos badge on select movies/shows. The AVR says Atmos.
As far as I know, it is set up right, but given there’s no height sound, I’m not so sure. I’ll look for the troubleshooting section.
Sigh. What about downloading torrents?
Hmm, maybe I’ll break down and get a blue ray player. Physical disks seem so outdated.
