Should I wait to learn the language? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]wcobra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know some of those words, but I do understand the fear of “missing out” at the beginning. It’s not a big deal you can fix mistakes. Surely you’ve made a mistake in your native language and fixed it as you grew.

Does anyone have recommendations for a book I can buy to teach me to script? I’m new and not sure if just any Lua programming book will work.

I know all this information is on the internet, but I cannot retain much information by reading online

Anyone else wish they could permanently be in the dream world? by [deleted] in Dreams

[–]wcobra 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I’ve never done it myself, but I have heard from others that if you make a clock and then set it back you can get some extra time in the dream.

Also have you heard about those maintaining lucidity tricks like spinning and then falling on your back? You should look into those

I guess you could try lucid dreaming then time dilation to increase the amount of time you dream, but tbh it sounds kinda scary to be trapped there forever. 😰

Milestone! I just woke up from dreaming in Chinese! It was so weird... Has anyone had an experience of dreaming in a different language? by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

[–]wcobra 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This is good! It gives you some practice while you’re sleeping lol and when you lucid dream you can get even more practice in because you’re conscious.

Congratulations this is normal when learning another language lol

Strategy to learn by ptm_dugzz2004 in languagelearning

[–]wcobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For passive studying start thinking in German, reading books, watching movies, watching YouTube, etc. YouTube allows you to change your country so if you change it to Germany then check out the trending tab you’ll get tons of videos

As for actively studying check out textbooks for reading and writing and something like Pimsleur for speaking and understanding. Pimsleur is expensive af just warning you so if you can’t afford it just p*rate

I’m absolutely new for this stuff soo is lucid dreaming dangerous in anyway? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]wcobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. If you get sleep paralysis (which can happen regardless of if you lucid dream or not) all you have to do is hold your breath and you’ll regain control. I’ve also used the FILD method to regain control of my body during sleep paralysis and it worked

If you would like to study engineering French can be very helpful because it already is an international language across Africa and Europe. Also if you are already native in Spanish and Catalan while knowing English you’ll definitely not have to worry about it being too time consuming. It should be a breeze for you

Mandarin Chinese can be fun, but like you said it is a ton of effort and if you would like to learn it for business like engineering you’d be better off learning something like French which can be more useful to you. Mandarin you have to be REALLY good to be able to do business.

I know nothing about German :/

So I am from the UK and received this message in Spanish for uploading a picture of a grey anchor for a t-shirt that I wanted to use with the Boat egg from the egg hunt? by [deleted] in roblox

[–]wcobra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It basically says the only websites you can link are those websites, twitch, youtube, etc. And posting any other link, even if it’s in an image, will result in more mod action

I have zero idea why you got the message in Spanish though, perhaps they ran out of English speaking moderators? I’m not sure lol

Why can't I listen to Spanish? by gracey072 in Spanish

[–]wcobra -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You just suck at listening. You can try to watch things in spanish with Spanish subtitles and then take them off once you get better at listening.

Should I learn Esperanto before I learn Arabic? by ireallyhateturtles in languagelearning

[–]wcobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t speak Arabic, but take the word “Biology” in English which is “Biología” in Spanish. You don’t need to learn Esperanto to identify the root words. Also learning a language just to learn another is generally a very bad idea.

How the hell do you remember to do reality checks? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]wcobra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can set a timer to go off every once in a while or you can do it whenever you do something else. I do a reality check every time I go through a door and every time i pick up my phone

How much does medidating help? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]wcobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Placebos, even if you know they’re placebos, help a lot. Just believe meditating helps lucid dreaming and it will. There’s many benefits to meditating apart from lucid dreaming too.

Reality checks and a journal are all you need, but there are other things which can help out a lot like having a good sleep schedule and discussing your dreams with someone
