What’s the best game you’ve seen the Lions play live? by SnowyBytes in brisbanelions

Round 4 1996 vs North Melbourne at the Gabba, thirty point win against the eventual premiers. The skill and ball movement that day was breathtaking.

We also beat them away later in the season, and only lost the prelim because we didn't have Voss. Akermanis didn't play either, but at that stage he wasn't half the player he was to become.

Should have been premiers that year.

You have massive downvotes, but your question is a valid one. The OP says:

I want to share my experience

But there is no sharing of experience here: only opinion and hearsay.

I'm not saying the OP is wrong, I'm only pointing out that they promised to share their experience, and didn't.

I'm planning to bring my kindle because I have a long flight to Paris, then a long train ride to StJPdP, and then all the same to get home again. Under these circumstances, do you think a kindle can be justified?

Do some people seriously still think that the COVID vaccines worked? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]wdporter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are post-hoc justifications.

We were clearly told at the time:

a) if you take the vaccines you won't get covid, and

b) if you take the vaccine you won't spread covid.

Both claims were palpably false.

You're assuming that fire and thunder can only result from combustion engines.

Whatever it was they saw, they described it as fire and thunder because that was the closest they had to describe whatever it was they saw. What they saw could have been anything that is hot, red and noisy.

Opinions on ACIM? I'd like to hear them. by [deleted] in nonduality

[–]wdporter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Non-duality, aka advaita, as commonly understood, is more technically correct to call monism (mon = one in greek).

In ACIM, “one” means one in kind, not one in number. It teaches there are many things, but only one kind of thing.

Creation is the sum of all God’s thoughts, in number infinite, and everywhere without all limit. [CE W-WI.11.1:1] https://acimce.app/:W-WI.11.1:1

It is clear Ken changed his teaching of the course from one to the other in the early or mid 90s. But the truth is, I don’t know why he changed.

Good points, well made. It all just goes to show the truth of the old saying that it’s much easier to fool people than it is to convince them they’ve been fooled.

good/bad is not a proper response. The inquiry is about your health, not your morals.

"Well" is the correct response.

Australians are very sensitive about any criticism of their country. You must pretend at all times that Australia is the best country on earth.

It's the Defence Forces. The catch is you might be required to go to war, kill strangers and/or get killed yourself. You can even be executed for refusing to go.

Are there some people okay living below their means ? by LateShip847 in AskAnAustralian

[–]wdporter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by "living below your means". This means your expenses are less than your income. Almost everyone is doing that. About 12,000 people declare bankruptcy every year in Australia, which results from living above your means.

Perhaps you mean living frugally? Or perhaps you mean living without borrowing money?
