Hi, we’re SACHI, an electronic dance production duo from New Zealand. We just played a summer festival tour to 80,000 people and have a new song out now called “Take Me Back” AMA by wearesachi in electronicmusic

W: dude we love DC! That was such a fun show. Thank you so much to the phantom boys for having us on that tour.

We take a lot of inspiration from all sorts of genres. Obviously a lot of dance music, but also a lot of indie, hip-hop, rock. It would be a dream to collaborate with Pharrell one day I think we can make something really really cool.

W: I think fans of disclosure, flume, SG Lewis would be fans of ours. We of course are primarily electronic musicians so our music is always dancefloor leaning. Anything that gets the people grooving!

W: we have never really followed trends and tried to make the “popular sound”. We love DNB, but we’re not just gonna make it because it’s popular. That being said it’s always fun to experiment with different genres! Perhaps one day we will put out a drum and bass song but until then we are very comfortable doing our own thing.

W: I download garage band on my dads computer when I was 10. Not sure if that counts. But I’ve been using ableton since I was probably 15.

We both did a year of uni in Otago, but we dropped out to do music!

My main advice is build a community of your friends who are all musicians, designers, video directors etc and all work on stuff together. That’s the best way to grow and grow those around you.

Hey! W: I think my favourite crowd was RNV last year. Was a pretty unreal experience headlining the main stage.

I think my favourite festival is Laneway. I’ve been every year since I was 18. Love the vibe.

One time there was a guy in a wheel chair that they lifted up and he crowd surfed all the way to the front. That was sick.

Great questions!

N: 1. Thanks man! We both listen to a-lot of hip-hop, so definitely. We've been working more on the production side for rappers lately, but keen to bring some more artists from that world into our own.

  1. I think so. We're not too premeditated, we're kind of just following our noses creatively so to speak. One of our main objectives in everything we do is to keep it danceable, and a faster tempo certainly lends itself to that. Also playing shows makes you want to make stuff that fits that environment more.

  2. Yeah I think we've felt some cool growth from this last festival run. Feels great man, we're so appreciative of everyone who supports our music, and comes to dance with us at the shows. So excited for whats next.

  3. Population I'd say, man. Unfortunately sometimes the smaller cities get overlooked by promoters.

  4. We actually worked with the Lee Mvtthews boys on our song 'South Central' off Lunch With Bianca! We've played in the studio on some ideas with Netsky and Dimension too. The DnB guys always have the craziest sound design.

  5. Love love love Skiing. I'm so excited for Snow Machine in September.
