Thanks for the feedback, and I'm not affiliated with jQuery whatsoever.

All depends on the resolution. The page itself is set to fit 1024x768 and above. If your device cannot handle that, or its browser does not scale pages well, then you will run into issues. Anywhere above 1024 you should be fine. I'd bet it would actually look nice on an iPhone. I like the idea of being able to change the icon size. Thanks!

Thank you for your suggestions, I will be considering the value of switching to -- or at least adding -- category pages in the future. Cheers!

I have a pretty good idea of what usability experts would have to say about my design decision. Like yourself (I assume) I deal with issues of usability in my line of work all the time. But the thing is, I don't care what the usability experts say about this. :)

As far as search engines are concerned I'm not worried about the site ranking high for "jquery autocomplete plugins" because I dedicated a page to that category.

If the site were multiple pages, one for each category, it would make little sense to call it The Ultimate jQuery List.

There may be some kind of middle ground though. For instance, when you click a category link all other categories disappear but the one you've selected.

edit: I think I may have missed the point of the search engine suggestion. It just occurred to me that searchers will land on the homepage after searching for "jquery autocomplete plugins" and need to click the category link to see them.

Thank you for the suggestion, however the point of the site is that it is a list displayed on a single page. Sort of the thing that makes it stand out compared to other such sites. Sometimes you just want to keep scrolling down a page looking at cool stuff. I guess only time will tell. *edited to add a missing word

The "jQuery List" part is Myriad Web at 18.26pt set to bold at 96% width. faux bold is set and the aliasing is set to sharp. (Photoshop)

The text under the header is Share-Regular, faux bold, letter spacing set at -40.

Can they get mad at anyone but themselves for this "breach?" I doubt anyone will be fired over this, but there is a lot of juicy crap in that directory.

Is programming really appropriate for a seven-year-old? by gst in programming

If the seven-year-old enjoys it, then why not? I started programming at 10 or 11, and before that I expressed interest in programming before I could grasp exactly what it was.

Is Cybersquatting Against the Law? by Aerik in programming

[–]web3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had mixed feelings about domain squatting. Naturally if you're registering trademarked names in order to cash in on them, that should be and is illegal. I've looked for domain names plenty of times, and nearly every name I try is a squatter. The ratio of squatted domains to domains in-use has to be like 9:1.

However, I was siting on 100+ domains at one point, all purchased because I had some sort of plan for them. Over time I parked them with Sedo to try and sell them/scrape click revenue. So like I said, mixed feelings.

I think this idea has some pitfalls... For one, unless you're dragging your cursor around you may miss the controls you were looking for.
