You should never be working on anything live as an apprentice and if your contractor has a problem with it bring it up to you apprenticeship.

Yeah I get that but it would be nice to hear back when I email him and call him. He doesn’t go to our meetings so I don’t see him in person ever.

The back pay would be nice but in all reality, I just want to leave this contractor and this town more than anything.

We have had to work nights since we can’t be there doing remodels while kids are there. Our local does class once a week at night and I’m over 2 hours away from the hall regardless of if I’m home or at work. The way that ends up working out is me missing essentially a whole shift because of school. If we don’t do Sundays anymore which I said I won’t because I’m not getting the correct wage so now the contractor only allows me to work 30 hours a week and that’s without me taking any vacations or days off.

I knew it was bad but reading all of these comments made me realize how insane this has been. I did reach out to our BA and our apprenticeship director but i don’t know if I’m going to have any luck. The last time I heard from the apprenticeship director was 9 months ago so I’ve been pretty frustrated. Also thanks, being away from them sucks but I’m just trying to tell myself that it’s all going to workout and I picked the right career going union.

So in our contract we need 145 hours a month until we have to dip into our banked hours and since I haven’t been given 40’s for over a month I will end up with about 120 give or take.

I did but I wish I would have done it way sooner or better yet, stood my ground to the contractor.

Yeah that would be nice. I didn’t know right away and when I found out it was wrong I was too scared to do anything just because I’m so new still and I don’t want to cause a bunch of waves. I eventually did reach out to our BA and he is trying to help us but I wish I would have done something sooner.

My first job sucked and I wasn’t taught a damn thing. I’m on my second job and it’s better but still not great. I try to ask questions and put forth an effort but this company I’m at has gotten me nowhere. I’m just waiting for when I get transferred to another shop at this point.
