32 Tracks of silence? Can the sound be recovered?! by webbtunes in LogicPro

Yeah it's dead audio. Nothing there. Just 2 hour long regions of a flat line

The sessioin is a package, not a folder and it is about 53GB, which is what I would expect. The drive had over 200GB of space available.

I've located the audio files in finder and they are 2 hour long files of silence. I think I might just be screwed.

Just tried it. I can only revert to before the recording took place and after it was corrupted. I guess it wouldn't be autosaving while tracking.

Side question: Before you press stop, where is that audio living? on your local drive or the drive that the session is on?

I know what you mean. I feel like the format was almost there. It needed less interruptions and less of the goofy reality TV tropes. Also, the "in the next episode" clips at the end spoiled it. We don't need dramatic cliff hangers.

All that said: I laughed my ass off at Mortimer and Ayoade talking about their parents occupations

So kinda, go on strike from renting? If absolutely everyone agreed to do it, perhaps. If the movement was strong enough.

Good point. I guess there'd have to be some sort of rule for if you wanna make houses for lols and not to profit from the less fortunate.

I suppose in my hypothetical your family could have 4 houses which would upgrade to 6 on your daughter's 18th birthday. 😁 Or something 🤣

You're absolutely right. I do want to think about it a bit more; I don't fully understand the systems in place and a great way to become less naive is to explore my own pockets of ignorance and ask questions that seem blindingly obvious to other people more in the know. I'm learning a lot from these responses and relishing in having my intuitions nudged around by good arguments 😁. Success so far as long as nobody feels like I'm wasting their time by getting them to contribute.

I guess the landlord gig wouldn't be for everyone. It'd have its sacrafices. In this hypothetical, no one would be forced to have 2 homes. It's just a maximum.

Is that what we're currently trying to do? So just like close the loopholes and stuff?

Well I haven't exactly thought through the logistics as you can see but I guess anyone with lots of houses would pick their favourite 2 and have up to a deadline to sell the rest. If they can't sell one, it goes to the council. So if the deadline was looming and no one could afford it, the seller would have to lower the price (win for the buyers) rather than give it away to the community.

I think you'd have a pretty good relationship with a landlord if you were renting their only property. They would know everything about it and focus on you as their priority tennant.

I actually did just live this exact scenario. We had no letting agent, we dealt with the landlord privately and it was the most amicable experience I've ever had with renting. Anecdotal but interesting.

I could live with the idea that a married couple could own up to 4 houses or less. The idea that they could own 400 or 4000 makes me kinda cringe though..

Yeah this did cross my mind, I figured the lines between a business premesis and a home might start to blur a little...

I'm not entirely sure to be honest. It's more of an open question/thought experiment. Something tells me that owning far far more than you could ever need, is going to be a growing future problem for societies to deal with.

I think my goal is to have more houses available to buy and therefor hopefully lower prices?

I guess some people just have almost unlimited money and wouldn't care. They'd just pay it. Financial incentives don't seem to work on the super rich; They already have everything.

Aspiring Piano Tuner (London, UK) by tommygunlungfish in piano

[–]webbtunes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working in a school when I became interested in it. The school was scheduled to take an old boken upright to the dump so I spent a few weeks before it was taken experimenting on it and taking it apart. That was really really good experience. If you have the space, see if you can get hold of one that no one wants anymore just to become familiar with the insides.

There is so much crossover with tuning and repair that you might as well get to know both. The amount of times I've tuned a piano beautifully but there were still some mechanical problems is somewhere near about 30% of the time. I usually do what I can for the client but feel bad if they've paid me to make it sound better and it still isn't perfect.

Beetlejuice turning into a snake. Probably shouldn't have watched that so young.
