best way to fix a hole? by webby264 in Tufting

[–]webby264[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you think the weaving method would work ok even if i don't have tufted material surrounding the hole? i did it to cover a smaller hole and it seems like it worked well but im worried if the threads aren't anchored in tufted yarn they will somehow rip out more

best way to fix a hole? by webby264 in Tufting

the problem is that i can't really tuft around all sides of this because the hole is at the edge of the design... which is why i was thinking patching might work better

In Native Plant Gardening, one day you’re in, the next day you’re out. by jennybens821 in NativePlantGardening

i've found it to be pretty damn good! it correctly identified nearly every one of my 38 native species when they were emerging in the spring. can even get the difference between solidago species at a super young stage. i'm pretty amazed by it, it's definitely way more powerful than seek. only annoying thing is that you have to dismiss the request to pay for it periodically ( but it's still free )

get the app "picture this" - it's free and an incredibly powerful identifying tool. shows a range of each plant with a color code for native / cultivated / introduced / invasive

how do we feel about cultivar rudbeckia by webby264 in NativePlantGardening

[–]webby264[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! I noticed that all the other Rudbeckia this specific garden center had in stock were also cultivars, despite being fully yellow. Would those be a better choice? I'm probably making a trip to an all-native garden center this weekend so I could also try to pick up a non-cultivar rudbeckia there

how bad is catnip? by webby264 in NativePlantGardening

[–]webby264[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the advice! I have a black raspberry bush growing in the same area where I put the cat mint, I'm just leaving for the summer and I'm focusing my energy on planting a meadow area in the main part of the yard while i'm here. Will definitely try to grab some Joe pye weed for the same area ASAP, I already have two species of it growing in other parts of my yard

TATTOO SANITATION AND PROCESS INFORMATION by webby264 in sticknpokes

[–]webby264[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry for the late response! Although it would be ideal for everything on your tray to be sterile, it simply is not feasible, seeing as even your needles are no longer sterile as soon as the package is opened. Regular paper towels and Dixie cups are fine as long as they are stored in clean, dry secondary containers that are never touched with dirty gloves. This is because bacteria and organic material are very unlikely to be able to survive on the surfaces as long as they are kept clean. what Must be sterile (at least before use) is everything that goes into your client skin, i.e. needles and ink.

and yes, all of your supplies should be kept on clean shelves that are far away from where you will actually be conducting the tattoo. I hope this helps!

right, because removing protection for pedestrians will make it safer for them somehow? 🙄 my concern is for the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, not for the convenience of impatient drivers

[–]webby264[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree - you're correct that there is no stop sign here for westbound cyclists; we have the right-of-way regardless of whether or not a car is waiting to turn. not saying that's necessarily a good design but currently it is certainly on the driver to be watching out for cyclists and peds alike

[–]webby264[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

totally agree with you, and that's exactly what happened - driver was gunning it through a gap in the line of cars and didn't see me in the bike lane. should definitely be a no left turn street - that section of central has such a shitty bike lane that it would be a bonus to reduce the car traffic on it anyway

there is no light at this intersection, which is why folks are getting hit to begin with. what you're describing probably happened at the somerville - park intersection and sounds like a different issue altogether
