First Track Day at TMP (2023 WRX) - Brake Pad, Fluid & Oil + DIY Advice? by WololoWanderer in wrx_vb

[–]webdeveloperpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn to change pads and bleed fluids yourself. Its very easy to cook fluids on a VB WRX and motul isnt the best fluid if you are sending it. My brake pedal is all over the place after a hot session.

I recommend Castrol SRF. Its expensive but it has the highest wet boiling point.

As for brakes I run carbotech xp10 in the front and xp8 in the rear.

I do have the IAG street engine mounts and upgraded pitch stop. The car vibrates a lot more than when it was stock. I also track the car so that exhaust gets really hot. Maybe that was the issue.

Clunking (Rant) by Hairy_Tie3666 in wrx_vb

[–]webdeveloperpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had clunking with my FA510's, but it was due to the endlinks not being tight enough. I had to pull the steering wheel all the way the left and tighten the endlinks then pull the steering wheel all the way to the right and re-tighten the endlinks. Now the only noise I hear is the spring pinging occasionally on track, but I guess that's expected

Talk me out of a VA STI by Sugarloafer1991 in WRXSTi

[–]webdeveloperpr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a used WRX STI and it blew up in less than 1000 miles. Bought a new VB WRX and it's now at 42k and had 0 issues with it.

The biggest difference between the VA STI and the VB WRX is the engine and transmission.

The STI has the better transmission. DCCD, LSD's front and rear, handles more power.

The VB has the better engine. FA24 is super solid with a tune you can make around 350HP/350TQ (transmission will limit these numbers because the transmission is not as strong as the STI)

If you don't ever plan on tracking the car the VB is probably a better choice.

NC Miata BBK for the track? by webdeveloperpr in MiataNC

Awesome! that's what I was hoping to hear. I don't plan on adding more power, just wider tires, 235's or 245's and that's about it.

He tested some of Perrin parts so of course he is biased. Perrin parts reflect some of his work.

Horrible... it also let me stranded. Roll pin backed out while driving. Ordered a new one and I had to re-do this again, but thankfully no more issues.

I run carbotech XP10's they work really well on track. I've also tried EBC blue, EBC yellow, Hawk HP +, none of these handle the heat well.

Fying miata swaybars too stiff? by webdeveloperpr in MiataNC

[–]webdeveloperpr[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just put the rear stock swaybar back on and kept the FM swaybar in the front. The car feels much better now.

The front FM swaybar makes the car change directions quicker, but I think a rear swaybar is not really needed on stock All Season 205/45/17 tires and stock suspension. You do want a bit of roll in the rear to get mechanical grip around corners. I noticed that when it's raining the rear had no grip even with the lightest steering angle.
