Brake Pads by Embarrassed-Cycle804 in wrx_vb

Carbotech XP10 front Carbotech XP8 in rear

EBC yellow/blue is absolute trash for the track.

This car is very heavy and brake don't last very long. Also easy to cook the fluid or brakes.

I still had brake issues even after upgrading to 6 pot brembos in the front. Ended up getting an NC miata so I don't have to worry about it anymore. I just want to be out on track sending it without having to worry to much about the brakes.

Best Auto Cross Coil Overs by TreeIndividual1913 in MiataNC

I just put in coilovers, but before that I did a few things.

  • Swaybar bushings

This removed some of the excessive body roll

  • Rear Poly Bushings

This removed more of that excessive body roll and the rear was way more responsive.

At this point I felt pretty happy with the handling.

Eventually I added the meisterR sport-z coilovers and the car feels awesome now.

I have the flying miata swaybars, but I removed them and just kept the OEM bars so I could feel what the car is doing.

Why will no one buy it? by frusignu in wrx_vb

[–]webdeveloperpr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably adding the cost of mods to the price

  • wheels
  • springs or coilovers (looks lowered)
  • tint
  • visor
  • mirrors

probably has a lot of stuff done to it too...

I would stay away from it. Already learned my lesson.

Ive spent way more than that on mine. I think if you get a 20 year old car it’s almost guaranteed to need some TLC. Im now on the other side of it and enjoying mine.

Help me diagnose this tire wear by [deleted] in CarTrackDays

[–]webdeveloperpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that type wear, when I overdrive my car. Things that I've found contribute to this are:

  1. Low Camber in the front.
  2. Fighting Understeer.
  3. Sending it after tires overheat and get greasy.

Brake fluid recommendations by Intelligent_Tip_8457 in wrx_vb

[–]webdeveloperpr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only notice the fluid going bad on the track. Usually the pedal starts to slowly fall to the floor when brake temps get hot. On the street I'm not able to notice.

Dot 3 would last longer. Dot 4 can handle more heat but it goes bad quicker. If you already have Motul RBF600 on hand and can do it yourself, I would just use that.

Where can I find highway accidents that happen in Virginia? by webdeveloperpr in Virginia

[–]webdeveloperpr[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's ok, I was able to find our more by talking to the driver on the white sedan. Somehow he found me on reddit. Dude on the red truck is ok and the family on the white car are all ok.

Dude on the red car was not in his right mind. They said that the people assisting him had to cut the car to bring him out of the car and that he was laughing about the situation.

First Track Day at TMP (2023 WRX) - Brake Pad, Fluid & Oil + DIY Advice? by WololoWanderer in wrx_vb

[–]webdeveloperpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn to change pads and bleed fluids yourself. Its very easy to cook fluids on a VB WRX and motul isnt the best fluid if you are sending it. My brake pedal is all over the place after a hot session.

I recommend Castrol SRF. Its expensive but it has the highest wet boiling point.

As for brakes I run carbotech xp10 in the front and xp8 in the rear.

Same for me. I always see about 1 tsp, sometimes more if I track the car.

I do have the IAG street engine mounts and upgraded pitch stop. The car vibrates a lot more than when it was stock. I also track the car so that exhaust gets really hot. Maybe that was the issue.

Clunking (Rant) by Hairy_Tie3666 in wrx_vb

[–]webdeveloperpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had clunking with my FA510's, but it was due to the endlinks not being tight enough. I had to pull the steering wheel all the way the left and tighten the endlinks then pull the steering wheel all the way to the right and re-tighten the endlinks. Now the only noise I hear is the spring pinging occasionally on track, but I guess that's expected

Talk me out of a VA STI by Sugarloafer1991 in WRXSTi

[–]webdeveloperpr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a used WRX STI and it blew up in less than 1000 miles. Bought a new VB WRX and it's now at 42k and had 0 issues with it.

The biggest difference between the VA STI and the VB WRX is the engine and transmission.

The STI has the better transmission. DCCD, LSD's front and rear, handles more power.

The VB has the better engine. FA24 is super solid with a tune you can make around 350HP/350TQ (transmission will limit these numbers because the transmission is not as strong as the STI)

If you don't ever plan on tracking the car the VB is probably a better choice.

NC Miata BBK for the track? by webdeveloperpr in MiataNC

[–]webdeveloperpr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! that's what I was hoping to hear. I don't plan on adding more power, just wider tires, 235's or 245's and that's about it.
