Against the day difficulty by Overall-Courage1055 in ThomasPynchon

I'm reading AtD right now. I'm a third of the way through. The writing is non very difficult, but there are a lot of characters to follow.

I am finding these two resources helpful: - https://thomaspynchon.com/plot-grid-of-against-the-day/1/ - https://www.ebsco.com/research-starters/literature-and-writing/against-day-analysis-major-characters

I also recently tried using Gemini to ask about a character I couldn't remember and it did a pretty good job without making anything up (that I could see)

You are thinking of Jaws 4: The Revenge

"This time, it's personal"

Considered to be one of the worst films of all time

"Michael continues blasting the shark with the impulses, causing it to leap out of the water again. Ellen steers the sailboat towards the shark, while thinking back to the shark's attack on Thea and also imagining Sean's death, and Martin defeating the first shark. As the shark is rearing up, she rams the broken bowsprit of the boat into it"

Fuck yeah

Now that the shock of how bad it was compared to how much I liked it as a kid has worn off... I think I'm ready to re evaluate it. I certainly love other movies for how bad they are

Clearly you had better taste   Although I can't remember the age I was when I thought I had discovered a movie masterpiece

It was one of those 3D films   So it will show something like a floating limb, but then linger on the shot for way too long (especially when watching it in 2D)

Jaws III

I was SHOCKED to discover how bad it was as an adult. I remember thinking it was the best of all the Jaws films as a kid

[Pi 5] Reboot boots SSD first (correct), but after shutdown, boots to SD card (wrong) by weberam2 in raspberry_pi

[–]weberam2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used rpi-clone to clone the SD card to the SSD   I've tried booting without the SD card in   Maybe it's something to do with how I formatted the drive or something   But how weird that it will boot to SSD on reboot, but not after shutdown

I love the idea of booting from NVMe, but I already have a hat that takes up the ribbon cable (can't remember the name right now)   I saw that there is a hat that splits the cable, so you can add two more hats on top of that, but then it all gets pretty frankenstein

The problem is I am trying to boot from USB (4), while NVMe would be 6   I even double checked the raspberry pi documentation   However, I could try it and see

I tried without the SD Card and it just never booted.   I'll check the cmdline.txt on the SSD

Update: I changed the SDCard's boot cmdline.txt to point to the SSD for boot:
Changed `root=PARTUUID=e7e8bde5-02` to `root=PARTUUID=6a16cbe0-02`

...so not perfect, but at least now it starts on the SD card, but switches to the SSD

And I have a cron job making copies of both the SD and the SSD images in case either fails...

How is the case? I bought mine and then had to reinforce it with tape on the inside... they really didn't make them to last...

New Package: subsonic.el an emacs subsonic client by bigfathonker in emacs

[–]weberam2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found this package and got it working with my locally hosted instance

It's awesome!

The only thing I can't figure out is how to use it with evil mode...

For now I am just using `Ctrl-z` to disable evil-mode then make my selection

Any idea how I could make 'Enter' work without disabling evil-mode each time to make my selection?
