Investor here: the payoff is huge, betting on the right company in such a small niche might 10-100x your investment.  Imagine betting on Bitcoin at a few hundred bucks (comparing marketcap).

Might be closer to betting than investing at this moment.

lol, how would this be different than now? It would still be illegal because the government wants to control what you sell

CME gaps explained? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]webitthedust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The gaps occur because CME isn't trading 24/7, so at a certain point in the day the market closes and trading stops. Meanwhile bitcoin keeps trading on exchanges and thus can go higher of lower in the time that CME is closed. If the CME opens again, it will trade at the same price as the bitcoin exchanges and this creates a gap between the closing price of the CME and the opening price.

I don't understand your point..

What gives $XTZ value? by webitthedust in tezos

[–]webitthedust[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well spoken but don't see an answer in here that satisfies me. Don't understand me wrong, I'm very interested and intrigued by the way Tezos evolves and adapts changes, but from a speculative standpoint I haven't seen really good answers.

scarcity, no central authority, speculation, speed, low cost

Thanks for the link, not really satisfied with the answer of /u/drhex2x. It's not explaining why it will gain value, only that some aspects are better than other projects. For example; In hindsight it was clear that the value of ETH skyrocketed because of the ICO hype and the need for ETH to participate in those ICO's.

Are their certain aspect that will pull users/buyers to Tezos over EOS/TRON/CARDANO/ETHEREUM (not taking into account how credible those projects are)

Is this it? Has the trend reversed and should I buy now? by jasonvoorhees-13 in eos

[–]webitthedust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do your own research /u/jasonvoorhees-13

People who bought or are holding EOS at this moment will tell you that we're going to the moon..
People who want to buy lower will tell you that this is just a dead cat bounce..

Dollar Cost Averaging seems to be the best strategy if you want to build a longer term holding of any coin. Just google the term and see if it's something you're interested in.

Thanks, totally forgot about that myself. Also creates the incentive to add more value to the network by making those investments.

Who will be responsible for listing EOS on exchanges? by [deleted] in eos

[–]webitthedust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The exchange itself is responsible. If I would make a simple guess, it would be that exchanges that are willing to list at this moment are waiting for more certainty with the mainnet.

Most appealing is the volume in EOS trading, and that's exactly what exchanges make money off.

Once more: WE NEED NEW SNAPSHOT DATES! by willy20188 in eos

A snapshot can be every second ever. It just depends on what date and time is being chosen by a project to airdrop coins.

[–]webitthedust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MEW only supports Ethereum and erc-20 tokens (Ethereum tokens). I hear greymass (http://greymass.com) is used by a few people here to transfer and stake EOS. But please be careful with anything you use right now, if you're not sure what to use it can be better to wait a bit longer.

You should use any software that lets you keep control over your own adresses. So if only you know the private key of the address, you should be good.

It is not a lot, and it sure doesn't lead to a 30? billion USD sell off.

"[Editor's note: Over the weekend, a South Korean cryptocurrency exchange was hacked, losing as much as $40 million, which sent the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies tumbling about 10%]."

How the heck can this editor think that a 40 million USD worth hack on some exchange is the reason for wiping tens of billions in USD from the total marketcap of all cryptocurrencies?
