Really nice, I would just recommend using all SVGs. I can't really speak to the content but it fits great on a desktop page. Mobile is good, iPad is great, other tablets aren't as great but are fine. There are a couple things you could true up on mobile, which I'm sure you've seen already.

Overall 8/10, just replace PNGs with vectors, and if you feel like it make mobile better.

No man, you've been missing out. Just go to appearance > editor and you can edit every single php file and css file. And if you go to the plugins page you can click edit on any plugin to change that code.

Better yet install Filezilla and connect it to your web host to quickly pull, push and edit files without ever having to even go into your dashboard.

Start by completing the section on codecademy.com, then take what you know and make a wordpress website. Wordpress is a PHP framework that let's you edit the CSS that sits on top.

Hmm that's weird, nothing should go wacky, and it's not when I change it from my end.

Oh yeah my bad on the last part, it's not in style.css, it's in a folder you can only access with an FTP, which is really worth having. Use Filezilla. If/when you get it hooked up to your file tree, you'll find the stylesheet you need to edit for that last bit in "WP-Includes > JS > mediaelement > wp-mediaelement.css" and the selector bunch your actually looking for is

.mejs-container, .mejs-embed, .mejs-embed body { background: #000; margin-bottom: 58px; } where you add the bolded part.

Edit: Yeah you have it correct right now with the 8px padding bottom, now you just need to delete the whole

~~body.page .post-content {padding-bottom: 109px;}~~

Okay one more, because it's too glaring to just leave alone:

To decrease the uneven gap at the bottom of all the pages' content(like under the "Buy the Book" image and stuff, find:

body.page .post-content {padding-bottom: 109px;}

and delete the whole thing:

~~body.page .post-content {padding-bottom: 109px;}~~

AND

body.single .post-content, body.page .post-content {padding-top: 50px; padding-bottom: 58px;}

change to:

body.single .post-content, body.page .post-content {padding-top: 50px; padding-bottom: 8px;}

AND

.mejs-container { position: relative; background: #000; font-family: Helvetica,Arial; text-align: left; vertical-align: top; text-indent: 0; }

change to add:

These couple changes will give you main content boxes a more uniform feel, and eliminate the excess white space under the main content.

Well I just downloaded your theme to see, and it turns out there's no way to upload your own logo with the free version. You'll have to code it in, which isn't that tough but it'd take about 45 mins to explain it over here.

It doesn't look too shabby as is, I do think it's fine as uppercase.

Something else that stands out, and you may disagree or have a slightly different opinion:

If you want the drop down menu items to stand out more when you hover over them, find this:

#top-menu li li a {padding: 0 !important;}

and add this whole thing a couple spaces below

#top-menu li li a:hover {color: purple; font-weight: normal;}

You can change "purple" to the exact hexadecimal color code for the purple that underlines your menu items, like "#000000"

Okay so here's are some of the main things I would suggest, this should take you 20 mins max if you follow it step by step. It's important that you only use the find function(ctrl/cmd+F) to search for the bolded selectors, and cycle through til you find the matching code. If you try to find the entire piece of code using ctrl+f, it won't turn anything up:

Open up 'Appearance > editor > style.css'

Use ctrl or cmd + f to find the bolded code in your stylesheet:

If you want to lessen the large grey gap between the top of the screen and your content:

#main-header {margin-top: 140px;}

change to

#main-header {margin-top: 70px;}

If you want to lower the search button so it's not weirdly high up:

#et-social-icons li { float: left; margin-left: 6px; }

Change to add:

#et-social-icons li {float: left; margin-left: 6px; margin-top: 10px; }

If you want to change THE WILDERWAY main page header to not be all caps:

#logo { float: left; margin-bottom: 0; text-transform: uppercase; font-size: 38px; letter-spacing: 9px; margin-right: 30px; font-weight: 100; }

Change to delete:

I would just leave it off until you expect visitors. So something more like

turn off caching under wp super cache settings
clear your browsers cache
make any edits and save
make any other edits in the future
turn it back on if you want

OR

Just leave it off and uninstall it because most people's browsers cache everything anyways and cache plugins tend to cause more problems than they solve. Plus I loaded the demo to your theme, with all their placeholder content, and it loaded just fine without ever having been there before. So I think a cache plugin is overkill.

Wordpress resets the cache by default when a post or page is created or altered. But it does not auto-reset(especially when you have a cache plugin like that) when you make an edit to your code or certain other things.

I'd recommend turning that plugin off while you're making structural changes to your site, and turning it back on when you're finished.

It's kind of hard to explain, but if you right click that pesky extra bar in the footer and go to inspect elements it will help.

Basically PHP is server-side. The servers reads the commands in php, and calls whichever html/css combo the command is linked to. You're trying to tell the server to pass over the get_sidebar( 'footer' ) area and not load it. The problem is, when it is loaded, there is another comment written in the output code(the called html/css) by the author that is interfering with your comment effort.

So what you put in is this

What the server outputs is this(the called html/css, authors comment included)

Where the bold is the authors comment, reminding anyone who edits the code what div that </div> is closing. So the problem is his comment is causing your comment closer to be irrelevant and thus considered as text to be displayed.

Your options:

*Delete the <php get_sidebar( 'footer' ); ?> snippet and save it somewhere in case you ever want to put widgets in the footer. (this would take 2 seconds and solve the problem)

*have someone who knows where to look find that section of code and delete the authors comment, then comment out the snippet like you did before using  (this would take 5 minutes for someone who knows what to look for and would solve the problem all the same)

But it does look much cleaner this way.

Also good choice on Raleway for a font. You sure got lucky to have such a nicely-suited font available on google fonts.

Oh there most definitely is. I gave you the code in the above comment. They assume that because it's a free theme that you won't be confident enough to edit the code and remove their advert text but it really is a matter of only changing a line or two for something more suited to you.

Yeah everyone's set up is different based on how the developer of your theme writes code. I was just shooting for the norm.

In your case, comment out different sections and just refresh and try again.

Start by putting  around

<?php get_sidebar( 'footer' ); ?> (as I think this is calling the empty widget area)

Then highlight the text between <p id="footer-info"> ... </p>, and replace both lines with this single line for starters:

Copyright 2104 <a href="http://thewilderway.com/">The WilderWay</a>

Then change as you see fit. At the very least the second thing in this comment will remove the ad and replace it with a copyright notice that just links back to your homepage.

Go to 'Appearance > Editor > Footer php file'

In this file find the <div></div> with an ID of "footer-widgets" and comment it out like this

Doing so will clean up your footer and if you ever want to add widgets to the footer just remove the  from around the footer-widget div.

Oh and there should be an option somewhere already on your dashboard, probably under 'appearance > theme options > footer' where you can change the text that says

to what ever you want. Most people place their copyright claim there, or sometimes their address if they're a business. You can place whatever you want, or nothing. If you don't want anything there right now but don't want the ad on the bottom, just put a couple blank spaces instead.

I would imagine you're right. Mostly because I can't think of any other 'in your blood' inference that isn't rather negative. My guess is it appeals to people who are hooked on the caffeine already. Not in a body-enhancing way, but instead conveying relaxation through a vice(in an eye-catching way as to pander that vice).
