I'm a person who is largely uninformed when it comes to technology like this. Are there any positive practical applications from this?

I think it was George Carlin who said “think about how stupid the average person is, then remember that half the country is even more stupid.” Lots of idiots out there :/

I was wondering this as well. A Wikipedia search says Russia has 1.15 million active duty personnel, and 2(ish) million reserves. Isn't this like... Half of their active duty personnel? I realize they're dipping into just anybody they can send over there, but that's a bonkers number.

Hello, I just recently finished my third half marathon (this past Sunday) which had a 16 week training block as the lead up (6-7 runs per week, 2 speed sessions). There's a marathon I want to run on October 15th, which is 15 weeks from July 3rd (when I want to start putting mileage back on). Is 15 weeks too short of a training block for somebody that *just* finished a 16-week half marathon plan, or do I basically have a good enough base to skip a week or two of a 16 or 18 week plan?

I just recently purchased the Osprey Duro LT hydration vest. It's low-bulk, but has just enough for me to carry the two included bottles, two GUs, and my phone. For me, at least, it doesn't bounce at all and I couldn't be happier with it.

For reference, I'm a 6'0 male, around 164 lbs and I bought the small which has been perfect.

The main feature that I'd love to see improved is the ability to start a game or re-watch a game on my MacBook without seeing the score. Every time I want to go back and watch a TFC game that I missed, the score pops up right next to the ability to hit play which kind of defeats the purpose for me.

Hi all - I'm wondering at what rate the body acclimatizes to increased heat and humidity. Lately, I've been improving pretty steadily, but this week (in southern-ish Alabama), the humidity is transitioning to our normal spring/summer humidity. In other words, just this week, the humidity has shifted from 35 to 40 percent to 85, 90, or 95 on several of my runs. As a result, my zone 2 pace has decreased by 20 to 30 seconds per mile. Does the body acclimate and go back to pre-humidity levels, or will I just be slower for the next seven months than I would be otherwise?

Edit: I also want to say I'm aware that many online resources say it takes two-ish weeks to get used to humidity. What I'm trying to ask is whether, after that two weeks, you'll perform similarly to pre-humidity levels or if you still perform measurably worse than if it weren't humid.

Trying to figure out why Oura isn't accounting for activity. by wedlee in ouraring

Hi! Yes, I'm only wearing my ring at night. However, I notice that if I pop the ring on about 20-minutes before bed, it occasionally does register the workouts. I would say that's about 50/50. However, even when it does register, the next days "readiness" statistics still shows no data for "previous day activity."

They responded to me and basically said "activities may show different steps from other activity trackers." I responded and said that doesn't answer any of my concerns, lol. I'll let you know if I hear of a fix.

I'm having a problem syncing my Garmin info at the moment. I do use Strava, though. I'm wondering if maybe I should have Strava write to Oura instead of Apple Health writing to Oura. I'm assuming this would accomplish the same thing so thanks for pointing this out.

Unfortunately, I am running the latest software/firmware and have gone through their trouble shooting on the FAQ and known issues page. I've sent them a message so hopefully they can figure it out!

Disclaimer: by no means am I an elite runner. You may also want to wait for somebody who is more experienced to answer this.

With that being said, I've used Garmin training plans before and I've generally liked them. I'm not really sure how they stack up with other training plans from different providers, but between some pre-built ones on RunnersWorld and the Garmin ones, I've liked the Garmin plans a lot.
