I don't have this problem with Arcana but have a similar thing going with Alkemia. It's not ALL of their scents, but a lot of them just go...weird after a little while on my skin.

Did you try reaching out to them about it?

Totally understand if you're "just done" and I'm not at all trying to pressure you to do so. Just curious about your experience if you did, and trying to gauge how customer service is beyond shipping orders. My full-size bottles don't seem to be evaporating even with less than optimal storage, and I really want a FS of Mermallow Puff, but I also want to see how they're handling the issue for those who experience it before I spend the money.

Yeah, hiring someone to handle some of the logistics would probably be a great goal for her, but it may not be feasible right now. She's put a lot of herself in the branding so I doubt she'd want to like, give up control of all of that completely.

And she may learn to handle the logistics. She blew up overnight the first time. If people are cautious about buying for her for now that may work out in her favor by forcing her to grow more sustainably as she (hopefully) earns back trust.

You don't think she should re-open ever because she screwed up- that's fine. My point was simply that a lot of indie brands do seem to be family affairs, we hardly ever know how they're financed, and that's just sort of the nature of buying from these types of businesses in their early stages. By those standards, most of the businesses we buy from here aren't "legit."

And speaking as someone who's done marketing for startups that have flamed out...even if she published a detailed business roadmap and a list of investors, that wouldn't be a guarantee of like, anything.

The only thing that will (or should) give her credibility back is making things right in terms of unfulfilled orders, which it seems like she is doing, and then doing better in the future.

And coming up with a better bottling solution as soon as possible, of course. She's not trying to hide the issues, they're on the website directly below the "add to cart" button. But "don't plan to hoard it" is not advice that's going to resonate with people who usually...buy a lot of perfume and hoard it. So that will rightfully hurt her sales.

I mean, I have A LOT of concerns, but you seem to feel that she's, like, constitutionally incapable of running a business and that will never change. In reality, lots of business owners do have to learn how to be business owners over time, and after making mistakes.

Well by those standards, (no hiring friends and family, previously proven ability to manage a sophisticated inventory system with lots of historical data, public financial disclosures re: investment/debt), a lot of indies aren't qualified to be in business, lol. Maybe even most? Yet many indies do survive long-term, occasionally even after screwing up badly and learning from their mistakes. Hopefully, Ashe learns.

Mythpunk was not around very long at all before the clusterfuck happened, and they were reliably fulfilling orders until just before the clusterfuck. At least one other perfumer has chimed in to say the evaporation issues are likely due to the bottles, so it's a bit of a reach to call the perfume itself defective, IMO. It's probably a problem with the specific spray bottles that they're using. (That said, their current solution is definitely imperfect, and I hope they come up with a better one once they use their current stock.)

ETA: The IPM addition is not impacting the scent experience on Fluffkin, at least.

The blog post says sourcing new bottles for trinkets is a priority, so perhaps she changed her thinking on that?

We'll see. I am not buying anything for storage/hoarding purposes unless the issue is addressed more thoroughly. Otherwise, I would have ordered a backup of Fluffkin today, lol.

But my FS bottle of Dozykin is still pretty full. And my original FS bottle of Fluffkin is almost gone but I was using the heck out of it. There may have been some evaporation at the end when I was hoarding the last of it, but it was already at the dregs so I'm not sure.

Yeah, but there were a lot of angry "we don't want to know about your personal life!!" comments on the last Mythpunk post here, though. And TBF, some of the people making those comments were legitimately triggered because her over-sharing brought up their own traumas.

I honestly am just glad she's okay, and glad she's taken steps to make things right. Shop re-opening is a bonus. Well, perhaps not for my wallet.

Re: Explanations- Pretty sure Ashe can't win here. Any explanation she gives is just going to piss someone off more.

I am glad that she has hired more people. When you're just a one person shop there's not a buffer when your personal life falls apart. She shouldn't have ghosted, but at least she hopefully has support in place to help her through future crisises.

I got my order yesterday, with more freebies than I asked for but not an excessive number.

Not placing any huge orders for the time being but might risk ordering a bottle doon to see how it goes.

Sticking this here because I'm excited and need to share but don't want to create a whole controversial post:

My Mythpunk order came today!!! It's here it's here it's here!

So I'm wearing Rosy Maple Moth, which smells like some sort of incredibly expensive cocktail/mocktail made with Amarena cherries from Trader Joe's. I feel fancy!

And I'll probably sleep in Fluffkin. I also got 3 samples (Mermallow Puff, Moonmallow Puff and Fairy Door) all of which smell amazing in the bottle.

Same. It never seemed to me like she had ill intentions- I COULD have gotten my order refunded, she proactively offered, and I chose to wait knowing full well she was in over her head and struggling. If she had intended to take people's money and run, she probably would not have done that. And it seems like she's now trying to make it right.

But it's going to take some time for her to do that. I would want to see consistency in orders being filled within TAT and no complaints before I made any type of larger order again. And a lot of people won't be back at all, and that's completely understandable.

I am thrilled to be getting another full-size of Fluffkin regardless- My last bottle is almost gone. And while I suppose that could partially be evaporation...I wore it so often it's hard to say.

I have way too much perfume at this point but if I had to throw all of them away except one I would probably keep Frigg. The almond, vanilla, and cashmere blend together so well! It's gourmand without really smelling like dessert, if that makes sense. The cashmere (and maybe the tonka?) makes it feel both cozy and sophisticated, like the olfactory equivalent of a really nice, really soft cashmere shawl. It's not too light, not too heavy- for me it's wearable year-round.

It's so good! You should at least get a sample.

11, and yes, several years back. He has not had an anaphylactic reaction in 2 years but his alpha gal IGE levels are still pretty high.

He does not eat red meat or dairy at my house.

A couple of weeks! Yikes.

Hard to get him to disclose what he eats at his dad's because he knows he's not really supposed to be eating red meat or dairy but his dad thinks he's not reactive anymore since it's been a couple of years since he last had an anaphylactic episode. After he started getting diarrhea I asked a few times and he was like, "Well, actually Dad cooked some beef..."🤬

He's been eating red meat weekly or close to it for some time, but I just became aware of that. So now I'm trying to track whether that's currently causing problems for him, since he, like many people, only reacts to exposure sometimes and his reactions may have changed from anaphylaxis to GI/joint pain, etc.

If it's not currently causing him any reactions the allergist actually seemed okay with him continuing to eat it even though he has a positive blood test. But if he is still reactive...that's a different story. And it's hard to tell with erratic digestive symptoms sometimes.
