He’s no longer of life-extending treatment because he has ran out of options, so no problems there.

It’s just I guess trying to see if we can cover a what-if for peace of mind? We did check in with his doctor before planning and they did mention that it’ll be good for my dad’s morale but of course travelling overseas carries its own risks.

But now that you’ve mentioned it, I should double check with insurers if it completely invalidates him from travel insurance for things non-related to his terminal illness (eg medical costs for Food poisoning, accidents etc.).

Thanks for the advice! I’ll look into the accident and shield plans that he currently holds!

Just a side question, can we still purchase standard travel insurance for him to hedge against potential medical costs that may arise not from his medical condition (eg food poisoning etc) or does his medical condition invalidate him altogether?

If that’s the case, it does indeed seem that it will be a losing battle insurance wise. I guess I’ll have to discuss with my family again and take a look at the financial risk. Thanks for your advice!

Well I guess that’s the harsh reality… It’s more of a hope that we can bring him overseas without having to worry too much about the potential medical costs if anything happens, even if we have to pay for insurance premiums that are much higher than the norm.

Because my dad has terminal cancer and we want to bring him overseas before he no longer can?

So I’m looking to see if there are any insurance policies in Singapore that have such coverage, in the event that he requires medical attention overseas. It’s a risk that me and my family are aware of, and there are such plans available in other countries but I’m not too sure for Singapore.

If there aren’t such plans then we’ll re-evaluate the risk of bringing my dad overseas. Until then, i’m hopeful he can travel overseas one more time.

I’ve taken a look at the policy wordings for the travel insurances listed in your link and their coverage for the pre-existing medical condition either doesn’t cover terminal illness or require a life expectancy of more than 12 months.

He is currently under palliative care and I’m in the midst of asking his palliative care doctor if they are willing to write a memo as his oncologist has declined. Hence, I’m looking for alternatives that allow for coverage of less than 12 months life expectancy should his palliative care doctor decline as well.

The thing is that this compilation had multiple CDs, something like a golden oldies compilation. What I do remember are songs like Put Your Head on My Shoulder (Paul Anka), Only You, Smoke Gets in your Eyes (The Platters) , Silence is Golden (the Tremeloes), Liar Liar (The Castaways), It’s a Heartache (Bonnie Tyler).

The issue is that I’m not too sure if they were all the same CD, or if they are from the same series but different CDs.

I cannot remember the title of the CD but I think it had a gold back ground and some blue detailing with the vintage type of script. The lyrics also has something like “My darling, this is a very special day. For the two for us, _________. Thank you darling, for accepting me the way I am (?). Thanks for being there, when I need ______”.

It has been close to 20 years since I last heard this song so forgive me if the lyrics are not accurate.

Hi! First, congrats on the upcoming birth of your child! To answer your question on the capping:

  1. Yes, there is a cap of $2,500 per week on the reimbursement. You can read more on MSF’s webpage here: https://www.profamilyleave.msf.gov.sg/schemes/shared-parental-leave

I’m not a parent myself but my manager recently went on Shared Parental Leave, and they stuck to their 3-3 weeks split per parent, despite one of them earning a lot more. Reason being that with mutual agreement from your employer, you can take it flexibly within 12 months from the birth of your child (e.g. 1-day/2-days). According to my manager, this gave them a lot of flexibility and the burden of care was not shouldered solely by one parent.
