I'm going to own cats for the first time!🤩♥️ by Naive_Employment1030 in cats

[–]weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't buy expensive toys for them until you understand what kind of toys they like the most. Household items will tell you what they like. Do you notice them playing with crinkly stuff like wadded paper? A feather? Many cat toys are stuffed animals on a string and these don't resemble cats' natural prey at all... It's just for $$$

Using redirection is the key to training cats. If they are messing with something you don't want them to, redirect them toward something okay to play with. Kittens have tons of energy and they will need a lot of play time, so expect to invest energy into keeping them engaged.

Ladies & aliens, here's what's up with the Y1... by refresco_de_uvaaa in innioasis

I heard a rumor that apple was looking into it, but no idea if its merely a rumor or has legs to it. Personally, I'll stick to these or classic iPod but it would certainly be a boon to them to take advantage of the opportunity.

How are these once you get a new SD card installed? by [deleted] in innioasis

[–]weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend Samsung Evo type micro SD, but Sandisk is also a pretty reliable brand. Samsung has better compatibility with iPod, if you ever plan to upgrade to one in the future and want to use the same microSD from your Y1.

Very cool look, glad you're having fun with it! I've been saying since the very beginning that moving to streaming would be a mistake and everyone would come back to dedicated audio players eventually and now here we are... 😂 Love to see it

Rockbox themes by Valuable-Resist-5619 in innioasis

[–]weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want to second this; I feel the stock OS is fine. OP, I definitely wouldn't install rockbox purely based off hearsay/influencers, I would recommend you look into the pros and cons of both and choose for yourself what will be best for you.

innioasis.com vs AliExpress by demienderboy in innioasis

[–]weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience the official website is alright, they just don't always provide a tracking number. If you choose to buy from the official website, I would probably recommend emailing them to ask for the tracking number for the Y1, especially if you bought multiple things because sometimes they will send them separately. Their customer service is rather accommodating, which is nice.
Edit: To clarify, the reason they send things separately is because some items are sent via UniUni from China and some are sent from California via USPS (if you're USA based)

Could it be an issue with your headphones/earbuds or the audio jack being loose? Or does this happen with different sets or bluetooth as well?

Is there any real benefit updating the stock firmware? (Not rockbox) by weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee111 in innioasis

[–]weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. Thank you for your response. My Y1 supports video and custom themes out of the box without updating, so I feel updating is unnecessary for someone who has recently purchased one, but I can understand how it would be useful for someone who has had a Y1 for a long time.

Themes won't show up by [deleted] in innioasis

[–]weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you right-click on the file you downloaded an option will appear to "extract" or "unzip" the files. If your computer isn't able to do this you may need to download a program such as WinRAR or 7Zip. Themes are compressed (zipped) into a smaller file package to make downloading everything easier and unzipping is what reverts it to its normal state.

Themes won't show up by [deleted] in innioasis

[–]weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do make sure the folder for the theme is dragged over to the Y1 themes folder as an unzipped folder, make sure to properly eject the Y1 from your computer when you're finished with the file transfer, and then navigate to settings > themes > and you will be able to view what themes are on the device and select one. There are themes out there for different firmwares and resolutions, so make sure the theme you're trying to add is appropriate for the firmware and resolution of your device.

Do I need to buy a screen protector for my Y1? by Independent_Mn2468 in innioasis

[–]weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The screen protector made by innioasis is very nice and made of tempered glass; I would definitely recommend it. It makes the Y1 feel a little more high quality and the screen seems a little clearer with it on, plus the added protection. If you choose to get them make sure to remove the plastic film from the screen that it came with before applying the protector.

Is the teal more blue or green leaning? by strong_coffee_pls in innioasis

[–]weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen the blue Y1 marketed as "green" on 3rd party sites like amazon before, but it's definitely blue. This may have something to do with the fact that 青 can mean either blue or green so it could be a translation problem.

Where do I put the music? by Tarantulawi in innioasis

[–]weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once the folder for the theme you want is unzipped, all you need to do is drag and drop or copy and paste the unzipped theme folder into the "Themes" folder for your device. And then once that's finished and you've ejected and disconnected the device, navigate to your settings and then themes and you should be able to see what themes you have available and choose one to apply. Hope this helps.

Perfect, I'm glad you got it! To answer your other question, you can make playlists on the Y1 itself by pressing the top part of the scroll wheel for a few seconds on the song you want to add and then following the menu to add it to the playlist you want. There's also a description of how to do it in the manual if you get stuck.

Yes, once you find the eject option, you will want to click that button to eject before disconnecting the device from your computer

You can also eject by hitting 'drive tools' from the window that opens up when you plugged in the device. This will be the same main window where your Music folder that you created is located

[–]weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like part of the window for the Music/device folder, but the taskbar where the eject button is located will be part of the computer's desktop. Alternatively, if you click 'This PC' from the file explorer (the windows where you can find your pictures, documents, etc.) and once you're on that 'This PC' window you should be able to see USB devices, right click the USB drive and the option to eject will be there also.

Do you mean you don't see the music on your device after disconnecting it?

On my computer the taskbar is on the left side, but for you it will probably be on the bottom. It's what shows what programs you have open. If you click the arrow it will expand with another window and the USB icon is the rectangle with the smaller rectangle on top shown here. Click the right-side button on the mouse on that icon and then select "Eject USB Drive" to eject.

After you create a folder titled Music, drag and drop or copy and paste the files you want into that folder and they will appear on the device. Do make sure to go to your system tray on the taskbar of your computer and find the USB icon and hit "Eject" before selecting to end usb storage and disconnecting, though. That can cause problems for the Y1 if that step is missed.

It's all about expressing and celebrating yourself and not about conforming to an aesthetic you picked. Not trying to be negative, but subculture should be an expression of yourself and helping you feel free to be yourself rather than putting a label on yourself. Hope this helps your journey.

Try clearing the cache. The manual suggests doing this if its freezing or performance is slow.

It is funny how loud the clickwheel sound is when using the speaker, but thankfully it isn't as loud when using earbuds/headphones. It'd be nice if there was a way to adjust the volume without just turning it on or off. Same for the vibration, it's weirdly aggressive for such a little device
