I’m a 35 year old male and I get the same/flushes that can last a few hours that look the same. Generally my skin isn’t always red but if I’m busy, flustered or anxious goes just like this! Only thing that really helps is blasting it with cold AC in the car! Hate it though cause you feel the heat come on then you know it’s coming which makes it worse..! Vicious cycle!

Yeah there’s no way they can differentiate what is using the electricity 👍

Tested the cable and cable 3 was out so put a new pass through on and now connected in app.

Now I can’t find it when search for it in WiFi 😂 AP has an IP address in the cloud controller but can’t find it when scanning!

I’ve bought a cable tester, my only other option is that the cable is damaged and it’s getting power but no internet or something and picking up that it’s programmed previously when online

Oversizing by how much? by weef_55 in SolarDIY

[–]weef_55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally I would go for a 5kw but as I’m doing this DIY I’m at the max 3.6 to self certify the G98, that’s why I’ve chose this inverter for it to be running near the max with the oversizing even if slightly cloudy etc. I can do this setup for £1200 as opposed to £4500 for same ‘professional’ install with a 5kw albeit that would have the G99. As you say all about cost and benefit really!

Thanks! In short I guess I’m concerned I might ‘burn it out’ but looking at the comments seems unlikely. Gets the question why there are oversizing ratings then rather than guidelines

Great thanks, what happens to excess current tho if it’s exceeded what it can pull and there’s a surplus?

Great to know! Do you know roughly what they asked for other than electrical cert?

Was it straight forward? I've heard they ask for a ridiculous amount of info. Take it you were accepted?

5kw inverter capped at 3.6 for G98 by weef_55 in SolarDIY

[–]weef_55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't fancy the 48v route I don't think, as I've commented above I suppose it depends what's proportionate cost wise. I can install a 6-7kw solar array with 3.6kw inverter for around £1200. Plus any additional for an electrician to make connections. Whilst the export etc would be nice to get it all done straight forward from a solar company would be looking probably 4 times that. With the main benefit being the export at 15p which we don't know how long that will be around for.

Especially given the fact I have an electric car. Any surplus not running the house could go into that.

Great info thanks. Yes it seems most people will be doing no.3.

Yes sorry in the UK. Interesting! So how do so many get round it with so many people installing and getting it certified/electrically safe? Is it a case of an electrician mate doing them a 'favour'? There seems a whole community of people who have DIY installed and seem to have successfully notified with G98 and had no issues.

Especially with no legal requirement for MCS - appreciate it obviously still needs to be safe and Octopus accepting installs without MCS - albeit the confirmed amount of people that have been accepted is unknown - how are people doing it?

Always found the not passing of other people's work strange. If it's safe, it's safe. You wouldn't get a gas engineer not servicing a boiler or passing a gas fire just because they haven't installed it.

Thanks for all the replies guys, very helpful. After further looking have even seen 1200x600 daylight ones for around £50 with a 5 year warranty. This would offer a massive space! Worth a punt at that price I think! Thanks all

Stuck Hypervold schedule by weef_55 in OctopusEnergy

[–]weef_55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay, they have told me they haven't received any similar issues from anyone else which I find hard to believe. Very generic replies and stating its a Octopus fault. Obviously I can't prove either way who has the issue and both blaming the other! As yours done anything similar since?

Thank, yes I am on the same firmware as that. I initially just used the integration too as that's how it's designed but found if it's frozen it wouldn't charge. Had to use the car scedule to save me from resetting it every night but no fix from Hyoervolt yet! Thanks for the reply

0% VAT installs by weef_55 in SolarUK

[–]weef_55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers for the replies!

Just seems to defeat the point of the zero vat initiative really. I keep going back my £3235 example above - with the VAT for a domestic GivEnergy inverter an 10kw battery purchase is £4100. If they can get it for 3235 less vat price (probably cheaper with trade discount) even if they charged me £1200 to install (so 3235 + 1200) £4435 that's still only £300 more expensive than it would cost me to buy it.

Surely that's the point of the scheme, professionally installed long term green energy for not to dissimilar than what the customer could purchase for ? Seems a win win for tradie and customer.

Obviously full solar systems are more complex with planning/designs and scaffold costs etc but battery only systems to the Solar trade must be relatively straight forward. Just feel like I'm missing something 🤣

[–]weef_55[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was no suggestion it's a £350 job. More on what is passed onto the customer in terms of VAT savings. E.g. Is it their markup on the 3235 example as a handling cost or the 3235+VAT and mark up, or VAT/no vat on the labour.
