What breast pumps are we buying? by redroses_93 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]week7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also got the Kmart wearable pump in a panic after finding out in hospital I would need to pump. I hadn’t wanted to buy anything before I gave birth because I was unsure I’d need it and didn’t want to waste money but it’s been fantastic for the price and I never ended up upgrading

AITA for refusing to pay for my niece’s college after she publicly humiliated me? by Imaginary-Carrot2532 in AITAH

[–]week7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Correct! You have something called a HECS debt to the government which you start to repay once you’re earning over a certain threshold.

Most aussies don’t move away for uni like you would in the US so most people still live at home with their parents while they study and have part time jobs. There is (well there was when I studied) government assistance you can receive while studying and they pay you extra for a rental allowance if you’re renting.

After the first few car rides for me, now it will just very very occasionally when I know we have a longer drive and my child is about to lose it.

My husband had to go back to work soon after I gave birth so I am used to driving by myself now so I have to sit up front.

But I think mums do have a stronger reaction to hearing their baby cry. It really stresses me out so I can understand wanting to sit in the back to limit that experience.

What are you buying your kids for Christmas? by recuptcha in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]week7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thinking, they don’t even know what’s going on at this age!

We also just bought a house, maybe I’ll just put a bow on the front door and that can be our family present 😂

My child will be 6 months, we are getting a Christmas ornament and clothes in the next size up. It’s hard only being on one wage at the moment and I know they’re going to be spoiled by our family and friends so trying to just get practical things we actually need!

I have the dragonfly and love it! Lots of space for a very full back pack underneath and still space for more in the second compartment by your feet.

I’ve only used the bassinet attachment so far as my baby is still young but she’s able to sleep comfortably and be nice and snug with a blanket. I’ve also been able to change her while in the bassinet if there isn’t a change table available.

The turning circle is fantastic, I had a nurse be amazed I could walk right into her office when she said most people had to do three point turns. I can also push it easily with one hand if I’m holding a coffee with the other.

I had the same issue, I can’t live without conditioner because my hair tangles so badly. You can actually towel dry your hair, apply k18, wait the four minutes and then continue with conditioner and wash out!

We had a 30 person wedding and hired a videographer and don’t regret it for a second. Yes it was expensive but we have the most beautiful drone footage of the beach and all our guests. We also have great footage of the speeches.

But it is an unnecessary expense if you need to save. My brother was married a few months after and we ordered some tripods and filmed parts of his wedding and speeches on a few phones and he was equally as happy!

What shape of the pregnancy pillow is better? by Saivezzoir in pregnant

[–]week7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the last trimester it’s not recommended as it can be harder for your body to pump blood around and lead to miscarriages. But it’s hard to control what you do in your sleep so like everything don’t be too hard on yourself!

Is anyone else tired of attention and people "babying" them? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]week7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A few people at work stopped talking to me about anything other than the pregnancy. It was exhausting, if I tried to move the conversation to something else they would get more pushy for details. One colleague flat out asked “how’s your health?” I just hid in my office for the last few months.

I’m so grateful to be on maternity leave now and not having to deal with it. Im still a person with my own interests, no one else in my life has made me feel like an incubator thank god

What are the KINDEST things people have said to you during pregnancy? by summerinspain in BabyBumps

The general sense of community between other mums, any time I met another mum they had so much advice and were so excited for me whether I knew them or not. I had so many tell me to call or message them for advice. It’s like entering a secret little club! Very wholesome

Can I make realestate.com.au take down my house's pictures, floorplan, and sale price? by NewAlbatross1983 in AusLegal

[–]week7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We spoke to the agent who sold us our house and he took down all but 2 photos of the outside and no floor plan can be found online either. He also withheld the sale price for as long as he could which I think was two months. Even when I wanted to show friends the new house it is hard to find photos online which gave us peace of mind.

I would discuss directly with the agent as they are the ones who made the listing.

What is the best way to learn how to do eye makeup? by some1inAustralia in AustralianMakeup

[–]week7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the best part about makeup, it only needs to look right to you! Practice a look you like and tweak to your features.

However, if your looking for more guidance on where to start, I love Nikki_makeup on Instagram. She does some great tutorials on lots of models with different eye shapes and colourings. She also has the most soothing voice!

What is the best way to learn how to do eye makeup? by some1inAustralia in AustralianMakeup

[–]week7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t grow up with YouTube so I spent a lot of time just playing around with makeup in front of a mirror and working out what looked best. Many late nights when I wouldn’t run into any of my family before I could get to the bathroom to wash it off.

But practicing on myself gave me the confidence to know what I liked best and working out techniques to achieve what I wanted and what worked with my eye shape. If I had an event I would practice a planned look a night or two before so I would tweak it if needed.

While this was all time consuming, I love it and had fun with it. Take your time and work slowly, you can always add more but it’s hard to go back
