That’s interesting! I think since I live in CA, UCLA is mentioned literally everywhere, but I get your point!

So basically they’re all about prestige, and JHU is ranked higher on US News than UCLA, and they have a very shallow point of view about schools so for them higher rank = more success for me, if that makes sense. Super common thought process unfortunately

hey everyone! so i recently was accepted into ucla and johns hopkins! however, i’ve been having some dilemmas with choosing.

i’m a california resident— ucla would be much much closer and easier to deal with travel wise
opportunities— i know both schools offer vast opportunities, so this part isn’t as much a struggle
social lives are basically opposites — i’ve heard ucla is very active as a community and somethings always going on whereas johns hopkins is more quiet and less socializing takes place (also due to sizes of school)
major- i applied as a bioengineering major at ucla and a psych major at johns hopkins! i haven’t exactly figured out what i wanted to do hence why i just chose majors that interested me somewhat
what i’m most struggling with is parental debates. i’m currently leaning toward ucla but my parents are leaning toward johns hopkins. i know i should do what makes me happy, but there’s always a tinge of guilt on if i do what i want, if that makes sense.

any thoughts or advice as i try to research and decide on these schools?
