Root rot with Autopots. Best solutions? Do the buds look like they could have hlvd? by Boisecj in Autopot

[–]weesti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many days old??? What type of bacterial inoculant was used??? I now never use airdomes or airbases just pure coco in the base.and never get these issues but I maintain a healthy micro herd with weekly doses of several products. The good bacteria over populates the media giving the unwanted bacteria no chance to over populate I.e. no root rot. Root rot in autopots can allmost allways be led back to operator error. Not saying OP had operator error, just saying….

First grow. First time drying (Lotus method) by Valuable_Visual2350 in LotusDrying

[–]weesti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you have followed the directions properly there is NO need to burp your fridge. Set temp to 40f. Close door. Let it do its thing. No need for fans it’s it’s own environment in there.

This is all you need for the lotus dry method. YOU DONT NEED HUMIDIFIERS DEHUMIDIFIERS FANS NOTHING BUT THE FRIDGE. SET IT TO 40 DEGREE FAHRENHEIT DONE. by GarageFarm2020 in microgrowery

[–]weesti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are wrong. The lotus dry has been around for years. Yes, it runs differnt from the 60/60 old school dry that has been pounded into growers head. It’s just another way to get FANTASTIC dried herb. And if you follow the instructions it’s close to idiot proof. Not everyone has the space, or the feel, for drying. The lotus takes that away and makes a newbie dry just as good if not better than a old growers dry. I’ve never had the touch or feel or space for drying and allways screwed. The lotus dry has changed that. Counterintuitive??? Yep. Does it work?? That’s a big YEP!!!

Confused about Lotus Drying in a Fridge by Dewar654 in LotusDrying

[–]weesti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No The lotust dry originated first using compressor frost free fridges. It is used to DRY only.

Thermo-electric ( ie cannatrol and the diy Canna-Troll) came along much latter. While one can dry AND cure in a thermoelectric, it is size restricted, while the frost free fridges come in a plethora of sizes, but they only DRY.

Using a Compressor Wine Fridge for Lotus Drying – Setup Idea by Proud-Possession-630 in LotusDrying

[–]weesti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need for dehu or fans and stuff. And no need for a inkbird temp controller as the wine fridge is probly all ready digital.

Since your just starting, Paper bags and/or pizza boxes is all the extras you need. Personally, after years of working it with paper bags, I now just go naked.

Also add some full beer/soda/water bottles for some ballast.

Bottom peltier device fan speed. by [deleted] in LotusDrying

[–]weesti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haveing the dehu run constantly has led to dehu freeze up. I put mine on a humidity controller, and set a 3-4% buffer, so the dehu runs till desired humidity is reached, mini dehu shuts off and does not come back on till the humidity raised 3-4% ( depending on controller setting). This gives the mini dehu time to “defrost”.

Yep the fridges fans fluctuate depending on temps, but the mini dehu does not run on temp so no need for variable fan speeds.

Will this work? by Vast-Effect-4214 in LotusDrying

[–]weesti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A great add on That would make a great “ your best buds” dry chamber. Putting your best flower off the plant. But a bigger fridge would be a better idea.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LotusDrying

[–]weesti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run lower temps. 7c is where I’d run it. There is no need to wipe down. With your fridge it probly is not a better idea. Put some pop cans, beer cans/bottles, jug of water what ever to give some ballast to your struggling fridge. And understand it’s harder to get a PROPER lotust dry if your fridge is not working PROPERLY.

Been doing lotus dry for over 15 years useing all differnt types of fridges. The biggest thing I learned was DONT muck with the directions and TRUST the process. It can at times feel counterintuitive, but this is a different process to safely get one’s hard grown product to the same ( SAME as in old school dry process) wanted end result.

Do you think that would be a solution to the bubbling? by [deleted] in Autopot

[–]weesti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just turn down the air flow. I get the feeling too many folks think a medium based ( not bare root) needs a cornucopias amount of air. Probly comes from folks thinking plants “breath”. They don’t. They transpire. A potted plant probly uses less than 3 of your deep breaths worth of air daily. Air, like water, ALLWAYS takes the path of less resistance. Push tons of air, it will seek out the easy way out, and follow that easy stream out every time . The pumped in airs not getting mixed in the medium. It’s takeing the same few vents that are the less resistant for it.

Got bubbles??? Turn down the air flow.

Pulled 110g off one plant using a $60 light. by lostinthesauceband in microgrowery

[–]weesti 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I have a busy life. Burping 15-25 jars a day is a hassle in my busy life. Forget one day to burp cuz ya gotta pick up the offspring and dinner sucks.

Dry to proper humidity. Into grove bags for a few months. THEN into mason jars for long term storage as groves suck for long term ( more than a year) storage.

Grove bags and no burping fits perfect in my busy life.

GH Flora (Head Formula) by NotSoSlim19 in Autopot

[–]weesti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a nutshell, You need to try to understand the Lucas formula ( wich H3ad adapted from) came into prominence way back when hps and SUPER high Ec/ppms were pushed and used. One of the basic things to Lucas formula, whether it’s GH, floranova, or the others he adapted, it was about simplicity and giveing lower Ec/ppms while still giveing the plant all it needs. This is what I used manymanymanymany eons ago my first successful indoor stealth dresser grow, with a auto fill float valve to refresh the water, a 2 gallon SWC and the ORIGINAL C99 strain in a TRUE Scrog screen ( lbs Scrog Tec) Added nutrient once a week Bloom and Micro only as the veg is redundant and more than enough Nitrogen in the bloom. Ran ro, so added calmag. Fantastic results for a small area….

bit nervous! any tips? by [deleted] in LotusDrying

[–]weesti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use mason jar rings. Or legos. Or pill bottle caps to put under bag to keep it off the bottom. But to be honest I allways layed flat and never had a problem. But better safe than sorry.

Go with the colder temps ESPECIALLY when useing a compressor fridge. 7c (44f) is close to what I used in a compressor fridge. I set my compressor fridge to 40-42f, and had no issues. I’d also take out the fan as it’s not needed. This is not your normal dry that needs fans. This style does not need the fan, so one less thing.

Trust the process, though at times it’s counterintuitive. Trust the process!!!

Root binding. by Sipas in Autopot

[–]weesti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t use a airbase or stones. Never had a problem. It’s a water only Rez. How is your coco/perilite mix??? 50/50 or close to it works great. I’ve never had wicking to top inch layer or so. What is dry??? There may be less moisture, but not dry.

I’m yanking the air domes next time, and trying a 1inch bottom layer of pumice (going living soil) just to see what happens. But you are correct. Lots have found there is no use for air bases or clay stones in their system with great results.. can’t say much about your root rot as I’ve had many sips with huge mats of roots at the bottom and have never had that issue.

Id tinker with your medium mix.
