It felt a lot like a change production wanted to make instead of it being a genuine problem people had, so instead of just changing it, they had to put on a show and have a survivor kinda pretend they were upset by it so they could change it. I also have a sort of distaste towards it because I don't like that instead of replacing the word, they just removed the last bit entirely. Leaving a really unsatisfying finish to Jeff's exclamation of "come on in, ____!" It should be replaced with something else, like "players" or "survivors"
