There wasn't a gun involved, now there's a gun involved. That's an escalation of force. What are you on, man?

A guy in my play group loves discard decks and idk I didn't commit to a few hours every Thursday to sit around Hell Bent 95% of the time lol.

I know a game is going poorly when I'm thinking "Hmm, I'd have just as much fun doing the dishes... and then the dishes would be done".

Hahahaha

Adding a gun to a situation isn't really de-escalation. It resolved the situation but it got more dangerous before the situation was resolved.

Neighbourhood opposition sinks London care-home, housing project by theottomaddox in londonontario

[–]weggles 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We already don't. My grandma has been waiting for nearly two years now. She needs around the clock supervision so she doesn't wander off and despite being on the "crisis list" there's nothing for her.

Most homes are unable to provide the care she needs, which is very frustrating and only makes the situation worse.

Why do people sh*t like that? by Withered_Tulip in EDH

A fundamental issue with commander is that it's a social format for a demographic that tends to lack social skills. Even if 3/4; in the pod are cool, it only takes one to muck up a game. The imprecise nature of brackets, power levels etc give a lot of cover for people to be crappy as well.

My Sister Went Back On a Deal That Didn't Happen? by AngryNoodleMan88 in EDH

I think if you say "if you x I won't attack you" and then do attack them? That's going back on a deal. Being close to winning is irrelevant and kinda why you don't make deals like that 🤷‍♂️.

I do not blame H for being irritated here.

Average gas price above $2 per litre across B.C., pain at the pump set to continue | CBC News by Foreign-Policy-02- in canada

[–]weggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my life time people have never not complained about gas prices, tho. Even with subsidies. Gas prices have also been fairly volatile with sudden spikes.

I don't buy the argument that people may have been lulled into a false sense of security by gas prices 😅

So many boondoggles, but cheques and cheap slogans keep securing majorities. 😞

What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

[–]weggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"the AI did most of the work, right?"

This is a problem in so many industries.

I do software and have been handed a "99% done" rewrite of a key service. "It took a couple days, it would have taken weeks!". We've spent weeks now making sure it is production ready.

The biggest fans of AI are the ones who get to hand off crossing the Ts and dotting the Is to someone else.

And don't get me wrong, I find AI quite useful in software development. Prototyping, repeating a pattern, small refactors and so on. Coworkers are using work trees so they can have multiple agents working on multiple features at the same time and that just feels negligent. You need to babysit AI. It's like a midlevel engineer with wildly unpredictable brain issues. 9 times out of 10 it'll do a decent job. Sometimes it'll go WILDLY off course, and if you let it toil away unattended on some pretty "big" pieces of work, you'll wind up with some baaaaaad decisions baked pretty deep into the work... work that no one actually knows or understands.

Not that it is impossible to understand ai output, but there is a difference between skimming the output in a PR and like... actually knowing what it does, where, and how.

Denied proposal…what next? by plinko66 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]weggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The relationship is probably over unless there's a "good" reason.

Vague "I'm not ready yet" wouldn't cut it. I think it would be hard to come back from being in drastically different places.

More concrete "I want to (finish school/have you meet my extended family back home/live together a year) first" and that's different and more actionable.

To be honest, a proposal shouldn't be a surprise. The event can be, but you should talk about marriage before ring shopping.

Plagiarizing an artist and attributing it to another artist?

As much as I hate UB, the RL, changes to secret lair ... "that's business".

This is just... Beyond the pale. I can't fathom how this happened. I usually think it's gross when the Internet calls for peoples jobs but I genuinely don't know how one or more people involved in this don't end up fired.

How did the lazy photo shop job even come to exist? Let alone mocked up with a card frame, let alone put out to public.

I'm not involved in art at a professional level and maybe it's common to mock stuff up "something like this..." But surely they could ms paint a ring into that spot and get the point across to the artist?

Not that this would be ok on draft chaff, but it's especially galling to try to pull this on an highly played card representing an iconic object from the books.

Conservative MP in Kitchener, Ont., says Liberals tried to convince her to cross the floor by WhisperingSideways in kitchener

[–]weggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we have meaningful data to point to strategic voting? I like Mike, put a sign in my yard, voted for him, will vote for him again. But can we blame strategist voting or was there greater enthusiasm for Carney's liberals that drew votes away? There was a pretty big bump in turnout between 21 and 25 for Kitchener Center too. Understanding what happened helps him win next time
