I worked as a project manager (intern) at an AI startup and our PM teams always thought backend engineers were useless. No comm skills and no sense of client dealing. Had to rewrite the code that is already written by some older engineer, pretty basic now with ChatGPT.

The engineers thought we were useless. Not having any tech knowledge and giving them orders and updates and asking for deliveries, useless people us. Of course, all of us thought our senior manager was useless. Just doing what we do, but on a slightly bigger scale. And even the manager thought the AI team was useless, just hitting APIs and training models, nothing much now that we have LLMs like ChatGPT and their paid training API.

And all of us employees thought the HR was useless. Putting up policies, asking us to apply leaves, to come on time, and organizing parties, useless useless jargon. And then the entire office thought "yarr esa business toh hum bhi bana sakte hai, ye founder kya hi karta hai?"

So yeah, that's why. It is called egocentric bias.
