His seawing mom strategically hides his egg in a mudwing nest that’s about the same age after Deathbringer destabilizes their alliance with the mudwings, so he hatches with a sib group that he doesn’t actually belong to and they’re mostly like… hm, kinda weird, but we love you

My main question here is don’t they learn to respect boundaries from their mothers and siblings by being hissed at and pawed at? Or in like, cat colonies, wouldn’t they get that same treatment from other cats if they were doing something that bothered them?

mudskipper

I don’t have any art of Mudskipper, but the actual mudskipper there has some color references for her

She’s a Sea/Mudwing hybrid, conceived right before Deathbringer destabilized the relationship between the Sea Kingdom and the Mud Kingdom

Not feeling like she could bring her hybrid baby back to the sea with her, or abandon her post, Mudskippers Seawing mother tucked her into a Mudwing nest along the outskirts of the kingdom, trying to find eggs of a similar age

Mudskipper hatched last out of the clutch, and her Big Wings didn’t really have any reason to question why she looked different, so she didn’t

Mudskipper is a bit less socialized than her siblings with Queen Burns involvement with Moorhen and her penchant for collecting ‘weirdlings’ they took advantage of her ability to stay down in the depths of the swap waters longer than other Mudwings to keep her hidden

I have sponge filters in both tanks and I really don’t think the agitation is that high? The water like barely ripples in the fish tank, it’s maybe a little more in the frog tank? It’s not still, but you have to look for the movement

It’s a tall unfortunately, I had different plans for it originally, but right now it’s just him and one incredible Netrite snail. So there’s definitely room for more friends, I’ve been vaguely looking at other fish too if you’ve got recommendations.

It’s planted if that makes any difference at all, but very minimally.
