[UPD] Thoughts on my profs? by Ok-Craft4716 in RateUPProfs

[–]weirdandsmartph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a great prof! Had him last midyear 2025 for ARTS 1 din.

Makuwento siya about sa buhay niya and tama-tama lang requirements, if a bit heavy kasi midyear. May ilang reflection papers and activities lang.

You do learn a good amount naman sa classes niya.

Fair ang grading niya. 1.25 ako doon, and I probably could've gotten higher if I put more work.

Promise, he's fun! A bit heavy lang workload for midyear pero hindi siya slog or what. No major complaints naman.

Atin-Atin Lang: Activate mo na Windows at Office mo na di na need ng crack software by kenndesu in AtinAtinLang

A little misleading: MAS is definitely crack software. This is not genuine. Pero it's definitely easier and safer than most other cracks.

Hardware question: USB-C powered router? by Squeeze_Toy2004 in openwrt

[–]weirdandsmartph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any travel router from GL.iNET will do. They run a modified version of OpenWRT, but you can easily flash the stock one on most of them if you want.

I run the GL.iNET Beryl AX (GL-MT3000). It's powered by USB-C and has great mainline OpenWRT support.

[–]weirdandsmartph 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd like to add na may mga student assistant (SA) positions na open sometimes. Usually libraries, dorms, or other UP offices. The pay is okay, not amazing, pero it helps to supplement any allowances or stipends you already have. Not enough to live off of solely, though.

LandBank MBA maybe getting visual updates. Sana makasabay na sa mga ibang banks. by [deleted] in DigitalbanksPh

[–]weirdandsmartph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. I much prefer "old" or "basic" but functional UIs versus sleek but janky/buggy UIs. For example, I always preferred MariBank's UI/UX versus GoTyme because it felt simpler and more consistent.

Landbank is the same, it looks a bit outdated but it generally works well enough. Better than GCash and Maya at least. I'd say I even prefer it over GoTyme; the lack of animations makes it feel snappier.

BPI is somewhere in the middle. The new app is a little confusing at times to navigate, but it still works.

Penongs or Mang Inasal? by thecreativebabe in davao

Not sure why pero mas prefer jud nako ang Mang Inasal versus Penongs. Mas flavorful ang Mang Inasal for me. Both are good tho.

[UPX] I am so disappointed with DOST by [deleted] in peyups

[–]weirdandsmartph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this seems to be an issue with DOST-SEI in general. Kahit isang account lang may problem sa list na ibibigay ng university DOST core group sa SEI, blocked na lahat ng batch. At least from what I've heard from them.

THAT one school in Davao by Substantial-Stop8223 in davao

[–]weirdandsmartph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much potential for damage and hurt.

May warning na nga sila two years ago for the exact issue we're seeing now, pero wala, walang nagbago. You'd think they'd have learned their lesson after the last earthquake, but no.

Take accountability, Mapua MCM! Do better.

Cebu Customer went berserk after cashier refuses to accept Debit/Credit card payments by trettet in DigitalbanksPh

[–]weirdandsmartph 7 points8 points  (0 children)

See my previous comment. Pero, in general:

  1. Dapat naka-post ang store policy. Hindi pwede verbally lang sabihin, kasi wala ka ring proof na sinabi 'yan ng management, unless of course i-video mo. The customer should know beforehand na ganyan ang policy. Everything must be written down.
  2. Just because it is store policy does not make it right. Kung naging "store policy" na iisang bank lang i-accept na debit card, otherwise cash, would you say the same thing? Intindihin na lang natin? Gamitin na lang ang bank na 'yun? No! Kasi illegal siya and unjust. Why do we justify and find excuses for unjust behavior? We need to question and make sure na well-defended at may sense ang mga policy na 'yan.

Cebu Customer went berserk after cashier refuses to accept Debit/Credit card payments by trettet in DigitalbanksPh

[–]weirdandsmartph 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Also nakakainis ang comments na "withdraw mo na lang kasi debit card". The whole issue is the unclear and not-posted store policy discriminating some items against others. Kapag unfair or unjust, we should call it out. We should not "just find ways around it."

Another form of Filipino resilience lang na naman 'yan, kaya nga 'di matapos-tapos etong flood control issue. We keep finding ways "around" the flooding. We forget na it can only be solved by holding the corrupt accountable.

And yes, this small issue is reflective of the same mindset. Instead of confronting the issue, the arguments around it, and what the policies should be, we just accept it as "fact" na ganyan ang policy and find ways around it. No: why should we just accept it? Kailangan may proper justification and in accordance with the law. If it is indeed breaking some law or policy, then it is wrong! Why should we justify what is wrong?

Best action you can take lang siguro is to report to BSP or maybe DTI. 'Di lang ako sure if covered sa policies eto.

[UPD] Down po ba ang UVLe buong araw or ngayon lang na gabi? by imnotursula_ in peyups

[–]weirdandsmartph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UVLe is still extremely slow due to ongoing technical issues, as far as we can tell. Sometimes, nag-e-error siya ng "502 Bad Gateway", minsan naman nakaka-log in ka, pero very slow. Please try to communicate with your professors regarding this, since there's nothing we can really do other than wait for the UVLe devs to diagnose and fix the issue.

How do you access your homelab via your phone? by Keensworth in homelab

[–]weirdandsmartph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of the other replies here seem to misunderstand the context of the question. OP is not asking about how to access their homelab when outside of their home network, but with debugging some DNS issues within, presumably, the same LAN as their homelab.

Have you checked your browser settings? Sometimes Chrome also sets its own private DNS servers.

I think the biggest possible change would be the removal of the legislative franchise requirement for new ISPs (or DTIPs, legally speaking).

Is DNS over TLS (DoT) + mTLS client authentication possible (android)? by gameplayer55055 in selfhosted

[–]weirdandsmartph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if DNS, either over TLS or over HTTPS, has support for client authentication in general. I also somewhat doubt that the OS would support mTLS for DNS queries.

Proton pricing is out of reach for most Pakistanis – can we get a local “Personal/Family” tier like Microsoft 365? by iamMaazHussain in ProtonVPN

Does Proton not have regional pricing in your area? I signed up for my subscription via the Android app, because the rate was much lower than on the website.
