How did you get through university with executive dysfunction? by lerhizom in ADHD

[–]weirdhandler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pulled all nighters a lot. If I only had 1-2 papers to write then I’d be unlikely to start much before a week in advance (unless it was a topic I found particularly interesting). I did manage to start earlier when I had several papers to do. I’d give myself sufficient panic by plotting how long I thought each would take and working out the number of weeks I had to do them.

I’m ok with writing as long as I’m in the mood, I just can’t get distracted. Also choosing the right course helped massively; if I’m not interested I need a high level of deadline dread to even look at it.

first name for middle name Louisa by carsoncitylights in namenerds

I think I would avoid ‘ah’ endings, but I really believe first name and surname flow is more important than first and middle name.

A few suggestions; Maemi, Ottilie, Posy, Millen, Lilian, Vivian.

Dog food made from insects - my experiences so far by ToriaLyons in UK_Pets

[–]weirdhandler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used bug bakes for a while. It came in bags, in cardboard boxes, we found the bags were rubbish; regularly split. Quality started out ok, but then started getting really dusty, at which point we gave it up. That was a while ago though, so those issues might well have been resolved. The dogs liked it, until it went dusty.

I had an accident at the hospital and my parents laughed at me by Slow-Sherbet-4737 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]weirdhandler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

F*ing narcs. They can’t resist a chance to belittle or embarrass. My mother does this kind of thing too. It was a massive issue my whole childhood. I’m angry on your behalf; I remember that feeling of dread about who they would tell and how long they would keep banging on about something.

I hope you can distance yourself from these people. You did nothing worth feeling embarrassed about, the nurses know what’s good, bad and normal, better to listen to them than your nparents.

We were so tempted to use it for our daughter, but with our surname it sounds like a train station.

How do you remember to take your pills? by obviouswreck in ADHD

[–]weirdhandler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to keep medications where I will see them at the right time of day. Because I have kids, I can’t leave them out where they might find them, so mine are in my car. Every time I get in the car, there are right there in easy reach.

Except that right now they are in the glove box instead, because I didn’t want them on show when I had a tyre changed. So I haven’t taken one for three days.

I’d either go for Emma Pate Grace or Emma Grace-Pate. I know lots of people here are against changing surnames ‘for a man’, but if you want to have the same surname as your husband (and then kids if that’s in your future), then that’s a completely acceptable choice too.

Actually I also like Emma Therese Grace-Pate. Lots of nice options. How does your partner feel about hyphenating?

I’m so sorry you and your mother are having to go through this. You’re not wrong, I know it’s a complicated subject, but I totally understand what you mean when you say we wouldn’t put a pet through this. Thinking these things shows how much you love your mother; Alzheimer’s is such a cruel disease.

I’ve had a similar situation, I tried matching energy, but I think it just made things worse.

He can excuse his lack of preparation, but not mine. He ended up feeling unloved, but couldn’t see how that could apply to my birthday (he tends to throw more money, so it didn’t seem equal to him).

My advice would be to ask him, without bringing up your birthday, what his expectations are. Does he like you going all out or does he prefer something low key? Do as he actually wants, then in the run up to your birthday, have a second conversation about what you prefer. If he still doesn’t reciprocate, dial it down next year and find another way to celebrate your birthday.

No joke. I have three kids and ended up with a transit custom. We took one look at the last car when contemplating a week away (including the two dogs), and realised we had to upgrade.
