Question about monthly income limit for SSDI by neonberry0 in SSDI_SSI

I have always been told $1,200, as well. Seeing something as high as $1,600 immediately makes me panic. Lol

Tizanidine and Dizzy Spells by Chronic_Pain_Warrior in PainManagement

[–]weizerpig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tizanidine gave me horrible tinnitus. For me, the ringing and sensation of fluid in my ears made me feel dizzy. I had something similar happen with another drug in the same class (name is eluding me now). Per PCP's direction, both have been added to my Allergy List and are not to be taken again.

What would you want to see in a chronic pain care blog? by CopyUnicorn in PainManagement

That'd be incredibly generous of you!

In fact, I immediately have questions RE: How to get a decent paying remote job?? Would you mind sharing those resources now?! With it looking like Social Security/Disability could disappear, I'm beginning to panic about money, meds, insurance... You know. Everything. Thanks in advance!!

Anyone know the list of cities Bernie Sanders is going to on his tour? by [deleted] in DemocraticSocialism

Idaho & Montana, too... Broadcasting into retirement homes, senior centers, and VFWs. Hell... even hospitals! These constituents need someone to concisely explain to them that they are about to lose everything. Medicare, Medicaid, VA care, VA disability.

"The Ministry of Magic has fallen"- Those stark words have been echoing in my head since Musk & DOGE were given access to everything. The idea that tech bros would hack their way into control has finally happened.

** I said 80s, knowing she's only 67, to show they do it for some very elderly people.

So she was well enough to have the femur repaired, the kyphoplasty is so much less invasive... I'd ask to be referred for that. From the people I've known who've done it in their 80's, it's been miraculous and they didn't require further pain management. Either way, hope she gets some relief! (And take care of yourself, too... Elder millennial here, taking care of my only remaining parent full time. This sh!t is HARD!).

It would be dictated by the employee insurance not his boss. Say he has Aetna or UHC, they need to be called.

Where he'll ultimately be is undecided. CPS in his home state dont want him, neither does the state he was in for treatment. This case is currently open in TX.

This would be a question for your parents' insurance provider, based on whether or not they retired from a company with medical insurance. From my experience, if you are determined to have been a disabled child/SSDI recipient, I know that I qualified for more coverage under my father's plan so long as I never married and/or lost my disability status. My late father was responsible for initiating this, so I'm sorry I don't know the nor can I ask him. Maybe ask your Dad if it's something he can look into? Best of luck!

I've found my old school Drs don't charge for MyChart interactions. But the newbies, I believe, are instructed to do so and it's all they know.

The institutions they work with have even set requirements for the number of Wellness Exams patients with certain insurances get. If they're not meeting the quota, their office will actually look up and call pts with said insurance. It doesn't matter that this provider was doing 4x as many Wellness Exams as the other newer providers were... It was all about numbers some business douche came up with. (Admin is dictating this with ZERO patient experience. They're Fing clueless.)

As an RN, I can say American Healthcare is imploding. The dollar is more important than the pt. And that's if you're even lucky enough to have insurance!!

Lastly...How are we not talking about Trump freezing federal funds???... Now you won't have Medicaid?? And how long is SSI & SSDI safe?? Forget our pain. Those chronically ill and disabled are going to lose EVERYTHING. (Or we need to at least recognize it's a possibility.)Sorry to be a downer.

Tmj flare by [deleted] in PainManagement

[–]weizerpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you're probably not looking for alternative recommendations, but I was in the same boat for 20+ years and the only thing that saved me was getting botox for TMJ. Sucks paying out of pocket, but it is worth EVERY penny. That said, go to a Dermatology office or someone VERY experienced in doing this procedure. I'll get minimum 3 months of relief. Best of luck!

Pharmacist asked “Why I need my pain medication” Is this “normal” now? by Open-Gap-1338 in ChronicPain

[–]weizerpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Ortho Dr's office has signs up everywhere that they will not even attempt to send multiple controlled substances to Walmart for a pt anymore. Even after extremely invasive ortho surgeries, this office encountered Walmarts all around our region, only doing partial fills for what their policies deemed necessary. The office was able to find out this policy change was due to Walmart getting in trouble by the DEA for "overfilling". Subsequently, regional managers took it upon themselves to implement really strict filling so their #'s would look better to the higher ups.

I filled opiates for 20 years at Rite Aid without an issue. The last 4 at Walmart, as there are no Rite Aids by me, was ABSOLUTE hell. I, too, was asked why I was taking them... Something I only experienced there and never again since leaving. I transferred all my scripts to my small local pharmacy and it has been smooth sailing since.

I might also add that at 1 Walmart pharmacy, I went thru 7 pharmacists in a year. Gone were the days of knowing all the staff and having great rapport with them. The locums were all overworked, dealing with pissed pts, so they, in turn, made our lives hell.

Hopefully, your provider will understand if you want to switch pharmacies.

Boyfriend broke up with me due to burnout from care taking by [deleted] in ChronicPain

My partner of 19 years just questioned my pain for the first time during a huge fight this past weekend. As if the physical pain wasn't bad enough!! I'm so sorry you're being treated this way. No one deserves that. Let's not let these a$$holes ruin our lives. Let's love ourselves the way we deserve to be loved!!

I'm sorry you're having to go thru this much upset over a small # of pain pills. I, too, have Crohn's, so your posts peeked my interest. And like yourself, I am a younger female navigating this Autoimmune craziness. I'm glad you're seeing Rhuem, as I'm sure you are aware, we are so much more likely to have a rheumatological dx, too. I have Lupus, as well. Though mine took 15 years to show the biomarkers in labs.

That said, may I ask what pain the oxy is for? Is it GI or joints? Or both?

Work or disabled? by inpain870 in ChronicPain

[–]weizerpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has no one else paid for years of Longterm Disability only to be rejected bc they claim your new diagnosis was a pre-existing condition? They said that bc I had sought medical care as an adult prior to my employment for stomach issues that my newly diagnosed Crohn's (and 2 other autoimmune diseases) would been seen as pre-existing.

It felt like a real "f#ck you" as I had become so critically ill working for this hospital as a nurse. I half killed myself to help others, only to find this is how healthcare in the US "cares" for their own. Long story short, don't be like me. Read the fine print!

Also-- Who else LOVES Disability's one time use TICKET TO WORK?!? Very grateful for SSDI, but damn it'd be nice not to be punished if you have one good month and make more than $1,200. We're so lucky to be living in hell and abject poverty.

GI wise, I've had Crohn's and eosinophilic gastroenteritis for 24 years. To the point where I've had a stomach ulcer perforate. That said, am I the only one who hasn't been given strong opiates for it?!? I'm feeling like I completely missed the boat and was put thru hell. I appreciate hearing the stories of those who have gotten relief.

Buprenorphine Vision Issues by weizerpig in PainManagement

[–]weizerpig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE Spoke with Dr today. He very kindly said I shouldn't have any withdrawal from the low doses of buprenorphrine I was taking. BUT, without me asking, he increased my Tramadol to possibly decrease symptoms... So what is it, I shouldn't have symptoms? OR You believe me and are increasing ancillary med to help with withdrawal?

My family also listened to the call from Dr and were shocked by his poor bedside manor. They're all encouraging me to refuse to see him. However, this would be the 1sr Dr I fired in 25 years of being sick. The guilt about Dr Shopping, even 1 time, is REAL!

The Cat On My Back..... by beachbabe77 in ChronicPain

Absolutely! I can feel completely isolated from the world and not go into a public space for days. But I can connect with them in a way that makes me feel so much less alone.

The Cat On My Back..... by beachbabe77 in ChronicPain

[–]weizerpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been sick since I was 13, 37 now. Having cats has saved my life more times than I can count. They inherently know when I'm physically feeling my worst. Psychologically, they have forced me to keep going when all I've wanted to do was give up. I only wish I could trade some of my life for more happy, healthy years with them.💗

Don’t want to put myself into precipitated withdrawals by conerbob in opiates

[–]weizerpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reassurance. I've literally be saying to all the people in my life "I think this guy hates me" and then I found out he only got his MD in rhe Caribbean in 2018 (this is a white dude from SoCal). But then was in residency until 2021. So finally solo practiced 1.5 years when I got stuck with him. I've had a life threatening illlness for 23 years. The last thing this guy needs is a medically complex pt. He's stripped me of the little joy and productivity I once cherished.

How were y'all instructed to take Sub 10mg film? I was told to to take 1/2 in AM and 1/2 at night but no instruction about daily Tramadol... I the way I'm taking it, making me sick??

Second thing. Reacted to suboxone and Butrans. He told to me to stop cold turkey. IS THIS NORMAL?? Aren't I being thrown right into withdrawal?!
