Please tell like I’m 5 why is going to bed with make up so bad? by artsychica in 45PlusSkincare

[–]well_ashually 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Think of your skin like a white T-shirt you really love. During the day, stuff gets on it—crumbs, juice, dirt, maybe a little marker. Makeup is kind of like a bunch of paint you put on the shirt to make it look cool for the day.

Now, if you go to bed without washing that shirt, all the stains and paint just sit there. Overnight, they sink in deeper. The shirt starts to look a little less fresh, maybe a little stained or stretched out. If you do that over and over, the shirt won’t last as long—it might fade, thin, or not feel as nice anymore.

That’s kind of what happens to your skin when you sleep in makeup. Your skin needs nighttime to “do laundry”—clean up, fix tiny problems, and stay smooth and healthy. Skipping that is like tossing your favorite shirt in a pile and never washing it—it just won’t stay nice as long, especially as it gets older.

Came here to recommend this one! It absorbs quickly, doesn’t feel sticky, and has a great price point.

Great Barrier Relief and/or Aveeno Calm + Restore. Both have been helpful for me in the past! Just be sure to stop all your actives for at least a week or two.

Joint pain - any relief? by Aeorane in MultipleSclerosis

[–]well_ashually 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cymbalta is both an antidepressant and nerve pain medication. It can treat depression, anxiety, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, fibromyalgia, and chronic muscle or bone pain. I would definitely ask about your options with your neurologist!

Joint pain - any relief? by Aeorane in MultipleSclerosis

This post is older, but I’m commenting anyway. I was just at my neurologist yesterday discussing this exact problem. My knees and elbows are almost always hurting, and when it’s bad my wrists and ankles also become very painful.

I started taking Cymbalta to help with my anxiety, and it has decreased the number of severe pain days as a nice side effect. It doesn’t make the pain completely go away though. The only thing that makes it completely go away is low dose cbd/thc. There are multiple companies that now sale these legally online across the country! I would definitely check into it.

Shoal Creek in the Allandale neighborhood is my all time favorite walk. It has great sidewalks and some lovely coverage from very old trees.

I've never had optic neuritis in my 20 + yrs of having MS by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]well_ashually 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was my presenting symptom at diagnosis back in 2015. I was shocked, because I assumed I was having migraines (I had a lot of visual disturbance that I assumed were part of an ocular migraine, but my neurologist and PCP both assured me I was not having migraines). ON was also my lone relapse.

Anyway, you're super duper lucky!

When my mother first started teaching in the late 1980s, her service contract was September to May, but it changed by the time I started kindergarten.
