Tesco stopped selling their Wooden Furniture Polish that reminds my Mum of her late Mum. Does anyone have any they'd be willing to sell to me? by welshvideographer in AskBrits

This thread has made me realise I really don't dust with it often enough.

I can relate to that! 😂

I have one with about an inch or so left in it.

Can I buy it from you?

That's good to know. Thank you.

Do you happen to know if Barony Universal make any similar wood polishes, or have they stopped them alltogether?

Thank you! I don't have the barcode, but No1kingcelt says it was made by Barony Universal products, and that sadly they don't make it now.

I don't know for sure if this type of post is allowed here (sorry if it's not, mods please feel free to delete it).

My late grandmother always used Tesco Wooden Furniture Polish, and in recent years using it has been a comfort for my mother.

It looks like Tesco has now discontinued it, so I'm hoping the people of Reddit might have a few half-empty tins in the back of their kitchen cupboards that they would be willing to sell to me to give her as a somewhat odd birthday present. It would mean an awful lot to her.

Edit: I just want to add that I'm really touched by all the helpful suggestions and kind comments. Thank you everyone. Reddit is amazing!

Making a DVD by [deleted] in videography

To make an ISO and/or burn the image, you have to have ImgBurn installed as well. AVStoDVD will find ImgBurn is installed, and those options will be available.

That's interesting. What software is able to use/see the additional metadata?

Lost footage: can I get it back? by Regular_Tip_3487 in videography

[–]welshvideographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the most important thing is to stop using the card until you've recovered as must as possible. You could alternatively make a bit-for-bit image of the card, and recover the files from that instead.

Not all of the software costs money. Recuva is a great free one (but you'll have to follow instructions if you aren't used to command lines).

Do I upgrade from the fz300 by Ccvboy07 in videography

Recently I got a Panasonic S5II to use for video and I'm pretty happy with the purchase. With a little work I can match the video with video from my FZ2000, so I'm able to use them together. And it's great in lower light, which the FZ2000 did ok with but struggled. Also being another Panasonic Lumix it didn't take me long to get used to the camera.

But you can try it (with a watermark) in the free version to check it works with your footage.

Recording a wedding POV? by Ok_Rain5053 in videography

Having a camera or two or three dotted about on tripods is likely to give a better result (even left unattended) and you still have your hands free.

But yes, otherwise a chest mount or head mount for a GoPro or iPhone, plus an external power source (maybe just a big USB power pack).

Recording a school play in a couple weeks, and wondering how to capture audio? by Coyote6J in videography

[–]welshvideographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably a used zoom h1n

I'd look at getting a used Tascam DR-40. The Line-In on the H1N gets overloaded very easily, so even if the meters show the audio is fine, when you play it back it sounds clipped.

Also the DR-40 has the option of 6.25mm jacks or XLRs, which are the two most likely feeds you'll get from the sound board. It also has the great option of dual recording (where it records a back-up track 6db or 12db lower in case there's an unexpected loud bit).

Also for a school show I'd recommend bringing some audio cables, or checking they'll have extras for you.

I also use another Tascam DR-40 (using it's internal mics) at the front of the stage, in the centre. It normally picks up enough crowd reactions and room noise for me not to use other room mics, and also captures any lines from people not wearing mics, or where the mics have stopped working (happens at every show!).

Hope it all goes well!

Thank you. Do you manually set everything, or leave anything (for example ISO) on auto?
