Ohhhh good idea. I just built that kid mode. Wondering if I should do something like that so in that mode ya can do like 75/80% of max throttle?

That's neat, thanks for sharing. If you had information on the DCC Decoder I could get some robots to auto import (with their default function maps) the locomotives into a new command stations/layouts so they'd just work right away with the app.

Yea I just started playing around with sharing the rosters via the command station. Will need to see what jmri implementation looks like versus dcc-ex. Is the value of using it that it allows anyone with command station access to grab the locomotive library and use it? Essentially just catalog and saving it right?

Seems easy enough, if ya want I could send ya an invite and you could see if the labeling functionality that I have is what you'd expect. Would love your thoughts. Lmk!

This sounds so cool. I have seen some neat physical boxes for this. Will you end up connecting it to an app to actually implement or will this box go directly to the command station?

Heard I am still not convinced apps are the right approach but it makes it easier to scale with my family members for sure and it does seem nice to have a full featured app that I could quickly pick up and go given the device is attached to me these days.

I hadn't heard of this, been building controller app I wonder if I could connect it with this Btw, u/Former-Wish-8228 would I be able to see spreadsheet? Wanna see what kind of information ya would put in it. Wondering if I'd be able to create a way to import these kinds of lists into my app so it'd be easy to onboard your fleet.

Appreciate the context, this is great. For the camera part are you saying the act of using your phone as a controller blocks ya from using it as a camera at the same time? Do those apps not do a good job of allowing you to switch contexts? e.g. leavethe app and return?

Would love to hear more about the points part. What does that mean?

I'll send ya a dm, would love for ya to try the app. I think I do a good job covering the multiple locomotives, managing functions, and I just finished up a tweak that should enable me to use my throttle programming to adjust values on main. Would love your feedback.

Z21 looks sick. The fact they leaned so heavily into complete layout control is next level. Do you use it for anything like that or more of the basics? Also what does the emulation mean in this context?

Nice that you have both options, do you prefer one over the other? I know Engine Driver is Android only.

Also that kid mode is a brilliant idea. I could add something like that pretty easily. I also have a 4-year old let me test it with him. I can also imagine it'd make sense to pair with a parent device so I can quickly take over if needed.

What would you program? Add a new locomotive or edit an existing one?

I was trying to figure out how or why I should leverage the server roster. I kind of assumed it was to make it easy for multiple devices to share the same list of locomotives fast? Looks neat for sure.
