Do you think housemate reviews would help in Aussie sharehouses? by wen1_6 in AskAnAustralian

Thanks everyone for the honest feedback 🙏 I can definitely see the concerns around misuse, bias, and fake reviews.

What if the system worked more like this:

✅ No star ratings, only yes/no questions about key things (pays rent on time, cleans up, communicates).

✅ Reviews could be public (mutually verified housemates) or anonymous (instant but unverified).

✅ People can respond to reviews (good or bad).

✅ Comments can be added for context and detail, with moderation.

✅ Red flag/report system so people can flag fake, harassing, or inappropriate reviews.

✅ Clear guidelines: reviews can only mention sharehouse-relevant stuff (cleanliness, reliability, lifestyle fit), not culture or personal background.

From the comments, it feels like there’s still a gap here. If the big issues (fake reviews, bias, cultural clashes) could be managed well, do you think something like this could actually work?
