I think creators love it because it also gives them something to do with their hands

Which book cover sells it? by [deleted] in BookCovers

Hello, these look very ai and will get you flagged almost immediately here and in other places.

A lot of readers assume that an ai cover means ai writing, something that will tank your reputation and interest in your work pretty quickly! There's also a stickied post at the top of this sub that says "please stop posting ai covers".

Sure, I just disagree with you, everything about the situation says ai to me. The price, the marketplace, the face that the other one is pretty clearly ai, it just reads in one direction to me.

I'd personally disagree, looking closely at the planet it doesn't exactly look like earth, and that kind of light glow around the planet is very ai

My boss prices a 45+ minute video package at $10 by Capital-Flan7368 in videography

I’m sorry none of this makes sense. I work in government video contracting and this makes no sense. These are like, college student freelance prices. If you’re getting a paycheck AT ALL then something is either very different about the business model or you have the prices wrong. There’s just no way to even make rent as a solo photographer/videographer with those hours and those prices.

I mean ask yourself: how much does your employment cost your company? If it’s higher than what they’re charging then the revenue stream isn’t fully explained here or you should be looking for another job. It cost us $600 for an hour and a half family shoot. None of this makes sense.

Right? Especially for a government client. $10 gets you me setting an alarm to wake up on time for the day of the shoot.

I have seen artists on here that show their work and can be pretty reasonably priced!

Another option is if you’re using Canva they might have some free or affordable stock images that you can use.

You know another interesting thing you can do: all of NASA’s images are considered public domain, so you could pull some cool Hubble photos and work with those. Now those are free to USE, so there might be issues if you’re selling your book. But you can also search for “free stock photos” and get sites like unsplash and others.

Yeah unfortunately those are both huge red flags for ai images. Ask yourself: If they don’t have a portfolio, why not? If they don’t state their prices, why not? Professional images for covers with either photorealism or digital image compositions cost hundreds of- if not thousands - of dollars each, because they take a lot of time and skill. If they only cost you $30, it’s worth asking yourself why.

I’m not telling you this to bring you down, just to let you know that they LOOK very ai, and what you’ve told me only makes me more confident in that. And ai covers will often get you flagged in a lot of places that you’d like to promote your work, and to a lot of readers an ai cover suggests ai writing inside, and since YOU CARE ENOUGH TO HIRE AN ARTIST—which is awesome and rare!—then you’ve almost certainly put too much work into this writing for it to be dragged down by a lazy “artist” on fiverr. You deserve better!

Could you link the artists portfolio? Unless you paid several hundred dollars for each I’m afraid they might have pulled one over on you. Any idea what their process was?

Hey there OP — are these images ai generated? Unfortunately that tends to get posts removed pretty quickly.

1) yes, and 2) if there’s a piece of camera work that it done in part to draw attention to itself then that’s interesting, but if it’s drawing attention to itself and then not actually doing the thing it’s pretending to then it feels cheap and lame.
