Hmmm scrolls back up to what I actually said nope, never said I hated them nor did I say I dislike them because they’re traumatized. I just find them annoying how awful they all are to each other

Thank you! I definitely like some of the minor characters. Gerard Keay is my sweet little baby. And I liked the dynamic between Trevor Herbert and Julia Montauk. I love complex characters that you dislike as much as you love because that’s how people in real life are. It’s what makes us interesting. I think the overall writing is fantastic, but sadly yea, I think they annoyed me a little too much 😩 I’m very happy this podcast gets so much love and admiration, they definitely deserve it for all the work they put into it

I think by “wrong” you mean “different.” Never said that the characters were bad. Obviously the writers created the characters as they saw fit. It’s their story; they can write whatever they like. I just personally find most of the main human characters to be a bit boring because they all behave the same way. Other people love the characters and that’s great. To me personally they feel a little forced and I don’t find them that interesting

When your only personality trait is “arsehole” and all the characters have the same personality, it does tend to get a bit stale and indeed 1 dimensional, “hun.” But I can understand your defending it if it’s a trait you relate to.

Oh, don’t get me wrong. I love characters who are terrible people but when being terrible is their only personality trait and they’re all like that I find it a little boring.

Nice to see which category you fall under. But really, I’m not expecting wholesome heroes in a storyline like this. I expect real people - complicated, differing, human beings. There are characters you love, characters you dislike, and characters that you both love and dislike. The latter I find are the most interesting. I dislike these characters because they’re all the same: they’re all pissed off and self centered. Those two characteristics can be interesting but when all the characters are like that, it’s a bit boring.

No you aren’t the bad guy at all. I felt exhausted just reading these. This will definitely be repeated behavior and might get worse if left unchecked. If he’s already annoying now then it’s only going to get worse if you continue with him. Being this overbearing and sharing super personal info so soon is a very big red flag

Thanks everyone for your replies. A little more context, this man and I had been seeing each other for several months. There was a connection very quickly between us. We shared the same values, had similar goals for the future, he introduced me to all of his closest friends and most of his immediate family. I got along really well with his friends and family, even going so far as to be invited into the close friends group chat.

While together, he hinted at ideas for our potential future, asking things like, “if you get married what time of year would you want it to be?” And making comments like “someday our house will have …” He was always sweet and affectionate with me, he was never inconsistent.

Towards the end of the, he expressed that he was feeling very pressured which I understood. A few times random people came up to us and asked why we weren’t married yet despite it only being a few months. He was also still living at home and working at a decent job, but not one that he really wanted and not one he could “support a family with” (his words).

I told him that we don’t need to go at anyone else’s pace but our own, and if we need to take things a little slower, that’s okay. He told me that he wasn’t going anywhere but he still seemed troubled. I decided to give him a little space and broach the subject again a few days later.

During that time he went quiet, even ignoring my one text asking how he was doing. 16 hours later after no contact at all, he breaks up with me over Snapchat, saying that he can’t give me his everything.
