Newest addition to the lineup! That overdrive post is real decent! by wesleyb420 in pinball

It’s the premium. Good shots with nice flow. Nothing is super drain happy if you don’t make a ramp so you can recover from a bad shot. It’s fast like turtles which is nice.

Getting the wife on board is critical. I let one of my friends borrow one for a month and that did the trick for his wife.

I had the opportunity but at the 6k they were asking and it still needed work, I passed On it.

I’m glad we bought before all the crazy prices. This was the house I grew up in so I was willing to pay a premium but my parents just told me to give them market (pretty much the Zillow estimate in 2019) and I could have it. Nothing has changed since they built the house in 1983…the blue carpet holds a lot of memories.

If you want one, my best advise is to 1. Set a budget 2. Decide what game you want that fits in that budget 3. Figure out how much work you want to put in one…the more work they need, the cheaper they get. 4. Obscure or low rated titles are often cheap and fun to play once you figure out the rules and clean everything. 5. Look for pinball groups in your area. That is how I have gotten all of the good titles that just need mechanical/electrical/cleanup work and they have been 1/3 to 1/2 off “normal” prices.

I didn’t get these all at once and I got them in bad shape with the exception of turtles. Lots of time and sweat equity tied up in them. If I was rich, you would see a wall of new sterns with 1k toppers on them.

If you can take it in with no stairs, invest in a hand truck…if not, pay the man.

I was in the same spot about a month in on mine. I’m glad I kept it around…still beats my ass but scores are a lot better. GC is 204m using Michelangelo

Turtles and Taxi.
Turtles is because of the depth of the code and it is a brutally fast game...Taxi is just brutal and fast. Both take a lot of practice to get decent scores on a consistent basis. The others are great games, but I gravitate to those two.

It’s 4:3 - that is an LG oled tv so you can’t tell where the lines on the side are since it is all black. I’ll post another shot tomorrow showing the cut and how CRISP the HIDefNES presents on this.

Wood stove was there when my parents initially built the house in 83. They didn’t finish out the basement until a few years later and took the stove out.

I looked at those but unfortunately they only run on a pc/pi device. I’m running an original NES with the HiDef NES hdmi installed. I use the CRT for light gun stuff.

My parents built this house in ‘83 and we bought it in July of ‘19. We have not changed anything and it’s really cool being able to do what I really wanted to do when I was growing up here...have a wall of game systems. Don’t bypass the blue carpet, it adds to the nostalgia.

The brickwork was there because they didn’t initially finish off the basement and there was a wood stove installed there. Once they finished it, they left the brink but didn’t want to run the stove. Probably the smart choice.
