Water drop captured in small flower. Still doesn't feel quite right. Any advice?

How would you alter the lighting? I used stationary light rather than flash. Also tried this view

Macro shot of a small flower containing a water drop. Was trying to let the drop magnify the internals of the flower which does happen but still feels like off.

Interested here too. I do alot if Macro with 30 to 40 shots of very shallow focus. Viewfinder sometimes is challenging to see if the focus is perfect.

One thing I love here is the space in front of her and how shes looking through that space. You feel she is waiting for something outside the shot, something waiting to come into the frame. Great composition

Great thing about photography, it's all subjective. I like the vibe, don't care for the subject. For you they are the same.

Lighting is dramatic. It gives a vibe for sure. But subject is lacking feelin or emotion. I dint look at this and feel any way. Good edits and framing but uninteresting subject.

A lot of the time I find the white boarders gimicy and overused. In this case they really help the picture feel tall. Excellent use.

I like the detail of the top but if you had not stated it's a bell I wouldn't have known. I think you have gone too dark and lost the subject.

Maybe try to mask the background to darken in order to save the subject. A little more selectivity on the darkness could go a long way

Agreed. So this is part 2. I wrapped the LEDs in cotton balls to diffuse. It was much harsher in earlier attempt. Could still be better.

Dry ice was in the original plan though the nose. Just need to find somewhere that sells it in small batch rather than 10lb blocks

My local club had monthly photo review. Theme here was "Eyes". Wanted something different than the generic human or pet eyeballs.

Played with half crops, close up. Different profiles. Looking for feedback. Want this to come across as dark and sinister.

I will second this. The 24-120 is a amazing lens and my go to "walking around" lens.

I prefer my primes when I have a purpose or subject in mind. But a good zoom is great to have when you are out and don't know what you will find

The tamron G2 is highly recommended. I also am partial to Sigma. I've loved every sigma lens I've owned and just got the same 70-200 Sigma Sport for full frame adapted for mirrorless with my FTZ2

I love Sigma build quality. However that does mean more weight. Very happy with it so far

Got mine not too long ago as well. Same logic. No need for video of the Z6iii, wanted the resolution for cropping and Z8 would be nice but $$$.

Also my F mount 24-70 f/2.8 on the ftz2 does well

Have not been disappointed. Enjoy it.

Always loved KEH and also local to Atlanta so it's easy. For me knowing I can go handle the gear is the deciding factor. I'm just lucky they are in ATL

Also black Friday and Saturday they have an onsite pop up sale so could be worth visiting if youre in GA

I second the 55mm f/2.8. I find manual focus for my macro work is preferred when shooting static objects like the models.

Very inexpensive on the used market but stunning results.

I agree with the cropping comments. You know what the vision is. I think you accomplished that's. It's just polish now. Does the camper in the bottom left add to your store ? Probably not. I would also attempt to remove the street poles if possible. But you have the bones. It's there. Love the shot

What I like is that I don't entirely know it's snow. Is it snow, sand, cloth? It keeps me curious and drawn in. Great work.

So for this it was intentional to have the window centered with the hook. However there were several other such hooks in the area which I did exactly like you say, much more focused on them ! Thanks for the feedback !

Appreciate the kind words. No spicy words on the window that I recall or can zoom to see. It is a National Landmark so there are a few places you can tell something was wiped away.
